  1. CPJ interview - Nov 11

I guess this means if we beat VT next year, it'll be because Bud Foster retired.
  2. The Culture is Real

No matter what, you were still a part of 2 victories over the Dwags. Can't anyone take that away. Lots of players can't say the same...been buying season tickets since 1965.
  3. Defense

We improved from #129 last year to #112 this year in opponent 3rd down conversions. Probably would have been significantly better with at least an average offense (#125 nationally in conversion %).
  4. Georgia Postgame

It's just me I'm sure, but honestly I felt worse after the VT shutout....a team we scored 49 points against a year ago. Ridiculous we couldn't have given them a better game.
  5. CPJ interview - Nov 11

Somewhat, but I for sure blame him for Citadel running a very similar offense with far less talent and not being able to stop it.
  6. CPJ interview - Nov 11

My interpretation is the coach before CPJ could only achieve a 7-6 record with what Johnson inherited, while CPJ achieved the same record his final year with less talent.
  7. It’s Yates Time...period

Agreed. Don't know for a fact, but it appears he's spent time being coached up by his uncle, TJ Yates.
  8. An old foe passes: RIP UT & Decatur HS RB Walter Chadwick (Link)

Chadwick had recently been announced as HFC at Wills High School in Smyrna before his accident. There was a group who got together from time to time to share time with Walter. The group was simply named, Friends of Walter. Steve Kiner and other Vol alumni often attended the functions. Walter...
  9. I have not seen any hype videos from any of the assistant coaches lately ...

IIRC, GT has already undergone a similar offensive transition (from wishbone to a more traditional O) back in the late 70s.....though Pepper was coach both before and during the transition. Think we went from 6-5 in 77 to 7-5 in 78.
  10. Has fan apathy already set in?

I can relate to your post in many respects, especially 3 & 4. From 1965 thru 2013, never missed a home game....just a loyal sidewalk fan. I counted the games up once....well over 300 straight games. Anyway, health issues hit me about the same time as I retired just north of Blue Ridge. I...
  11. North Carolina Postgame

Just looked at where we rank on both O and D 3rd down conversions thus far....#122 on offense and #112 on defense. I knew our offense would drop dramatically this year, but am extremely disappointed with our defense ranking thus far.
  12. Why can't coach talk about officiating?

    Think you're right....here's a clip of it.
  13. North Carolina vs. Georgia Tech Predictions #UNCvsGT

Just looked, you're right....10/14 264 yards passing and 17 carries for 195 yards.
  14. Offensive Gameplan

Agreed. Sometimes proficiency on offense can help mask a deficiency on defense and vice-versa. If you're very or somewhat lacking in both O and D, then likely you'll have a tough time winning. Comparing 2017 and 2018 (both very mediocre years) to 2019 thru game 4, we aren't burning it up in...
  15. The Temple Skinny

Imagine losing to an FCS team that employed the same exact offense as the coach who was here 11 years. Our defense personnel made comments about having to practice against it all those years during the spring and summer. Little good it did.....42 minutes of possession time and 350 ground yards...
  16. Bill Curry's Thoughts

Yep, and if you asked him about criticism of coaches, etc., he'd likely tell you the degree of criticism at GT pales compared to what happens in Tuscaloosa
  17. Rotating QBs good or bad ?

Really, all that matters to me, is making sure TO is on the field and gets his hands on the ball as often as possible. Except for downs to rest, he needs to be on the field. Been going to games since the mid-60s and seen a lot of players come and go. He combines vision, balance, escapability...
  18. Paul Finebaum Throwing GT under bus

Also think our DC Thacker was LB coach at Kennesaw St. around 2016. Pretty sure he's seen plenty of it.....along with most players on our defense.
  19. GT needed a change

1974 IIRC.....cold, cold, windy driving rain in the Cesspool. A miserable day weather wise, but very memorable as there were only what seemed like a handful of dwags in the stands after halftime.
