Loyola Chicago (8) vs. Georgia Tech (9), Friday, 4pm ET, TBS

Because the ACC wiped the floor with everyone else OOC that year.

I'm not sure there's even a Ty Jerome in the league this year

2004 ACC was ridiculously loaded. 3rd Team All-ACC was Chris Paul, Jarrett Jack, Raymond Felton, Luol Deng and John Gilchrist. That's um ... A LOT of talent.

Loyola Chicago (8) vs. Georgia Tech (9), Friday, 4pm ET, TBS

Yeah, talent was just really, really down across the whole conference. A few bad recruiting classes, some misses and injuries and a couple of "reset" years for a few programs like Virginia (the group that dominated the ACC graduating/drafted and a new team taking their place) left the conference...

Loyola Chicago (8) vs. Georgia Tech (9), Friday, 4pm ET, TBS

There might be just 2 ACC players picked in the entire first round of the NBA Draft, let alone the lottery. The talent level across the board was really down this year in the ACC, not just at UNC and Duke. It's one of the lowest points in ACC talent that I can remember.

That timestamp is my concern for Krutwig versus Wright ... he simply doesn't have the footspeed to stay with elite level athletes going towards the rim on him. Wright's probably even quicker than Wagner (and a bit smaller).

Loyola Chicago (8) vs. Georgia Tech (9), Friday, 4pm ET, TBS

No question about Krutwig as an offensive player, he reminds me a bit of a poor man's Nikola Jokic. Looks much less quick than he is, partly because he's so decisive and smart with each movement and has great feet. As for strength, GT isn't a team with much size that likes to bang ... so no...

Loyola Chicago (8) vs. Georgia Tech (9), Friday, 4pm ET, TBS

We'll see how often Pastner has us hunt Krutwig with pick and roll action. Moses isn't a great screener, but he's getting better at it and he's an elite finisher when he catches on the roll. I generally prefer the Devoe/Moses PNR over Jose/Moses (Devoe is the better interior passer and has the...

My Viennese dude Giorgi Bezhanishvili that backs-up / starts alongside Kofi is very good actually, the depth at the C position that Illinois has is something else. They go smaller with Giorgi in the game as the lone big and let their guards really cook.

Georgia Tech, Your 2021 ACC Champions

I thought Sturdivant's biggest contribution was that he wasn't Khalid Moore ... because FSU was sagging off Moore to an unbelievable extent and making us play 4 v 5 on offense. Moore took 6 3's when he was in the game, because he was wide open. And while Moore has done a lot of nice things this...

Georgia Tech, Your 2021 ACC Champions

Been a brutally hard decade to follow GT hoops (thank God for the condensed games on YouTube and ESPNPlayer.com, staying up to 4:30am on a worknight to watch us score 28 points against Virginia isn't a great use of your time, if you know what I mean). I'm thrilled for Jose and Moses, who came...

    Game Thread - @ UNC, 1/4/2020

Devoe, Alvarado and Wright would be for sure starters on this current version of UNC. Strange thing to say in recent years, that's for sure.

Giannis is a historically great finisher at the rim (Shaq / Wilt level) and ... he still takes over 5 3's per game (and is shooting 33.5% on them, which seems unfair). Moses is pretty clearly not a Giannis type talent, and that's no knock him - the Freak is a Freak for a reason. He's going to...

He can't shoot, and the number of roster spots in the modern NBA for anyone of any position that can't shoot are very limited. Even a guy with a comparable game to his (high energy, powerful finisher, etc) like Maxi Kleber takes 4 3's a game. Montrezl Harrell I guess is pretty much the only high...

Helped having all our guards healthy and UNC basically playing 3rd stringers in the backcourt. Was nice to take advantage of that situation. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk

    Note from Juanyeh Thomas

They are paid for the use of their likeness in the Madden games, on trading cards and other collectibles, on any advertising that features the whole Falcons team, etc. It's not enormous sums of money, but it's quite a fair bit.

    Note from Juanyeh Thomas

I think from a societal level it has been a huge positive - especially in terms of particularly changing the perception and profile of African Americans in the deep south. Having black athletes be the unquestioned faces of these major southern institutions (and in many cases, the de facto faces...

    Note from Juanyeh Thomas

On a larger societal scale - poverty in America is at grossly unacceptable levels. The only thing that makes this story shocking or newsworthy is that he was an elite athlete and thus had an opportunity to possibly break out of the below subsistence level living his family was (and still is) in...

    Kicker

Kickoff performance is pretty much pure leg strength ... and GT's kickers this year struggled tremendously in that area. King averaged 57.83 yards per kickoff, Wells was a truly wretched 54.00 yards per kickoff. "Good" kickers average 60+ yards per kickoff, and the top 20 or so are 62+ (...

I actually quite liked the last head coach, there's plenty of history there where you can find stuff I've said, back to before he was hired. The last several years he completely mailed it in and left the program in a bad state. That's also a part of his legacy, and it effects how we have to...
