This is immaterial to the discussion.
HCs have to manage their roster and their depth chart.
It is not as simplistic as saying that the LOI is signed to the school.
The reality is that HCs have to manage their rosters and depth charts so when a player does sign a LOI, in most cases he is...
My angle is to simply talk about sports in way that is honest and fair instead of massaging the facts to make us feel better about our FB program.
Just tell the truth and let the chips fall where they may.
That quote didn't stop VL from leading us to a 20-7 halftime lead vs. uga.
My point is, is that quote is not proof of anything you claimed about VL being clueless and checking out halfway through the season.
What you wrote above just isn't true.
Al Golden wanted Menocal as long as he wanted to play TE, only then would he have accepted his LOI.
Saban would have accepted JT's LOI as a DB/WR/KR, Saban was not going to accept JT's LOI as a QB.
Why do you guys feel the need to re-write history?
A reasonable college fan would define a flip as a recruit switching schools with all things being equal.
Menocal was clear that he wanted to play LB or on Defense in college, Al Golden saw Menocal as a TE, so he went looking for a new school and found GT.
JT was clear that he wanted to play...
It is amazing how quickly players fall out of favor with chosen posters like you that get to rip players with no recourse.
According to you VL goes from the savior to take the CPJ Offense to the next level, to a clueless QB that had checked out halfway through the season.
Is it possible that...
Coaching changes like at Miami with Menocal, or when a HC says you can't play QB at our school is the same as a rescinded scholly offer.
Miami's new HC told Menocal he was a TE as long as he was the HC, the same way that Saban told JT you're not a QB as long as I'm the HC, in both of those...
My question is:
Why would an OL made up of RS-Srs. and RS-Jrs. in their 4th and 5th years in the program perform at such a level that a much younger OL is described as being 2 steps ahead of that veteran OL from last yr., remember that this opinion is coming from arguably the best player on...
I guess you guys are correct and I am way ,way wrong.
JT had a scholly lined up at Bama to play ONLY QB, and then GT flipped him.
BTW, could you please share the truth with fans like me that obviously don't know the truth.
That doesn't say anything about Saban telling JT that he'd never be a QB at Bama.
But you are free to believe what you want to, the bottom line is that JT said he was a QB only, and Saban told him that he'd never play QB at Bama.
If JT says, "I am a QB only" and then Saban says well for me you'll play DB or there'll be no scholly, then that isn't quite what I would call a flip.
How is this simple logic so hard for you to understand?
JT said that he was a QB only, once he said that it wasn't really a flip anymore, Saban...
It doesn't represent GT sports very well to criticize a former recruit's Mother.
If recruits are off-limits, shouldn't their parents be off-limits also?
New HC came to Miami and told Menocal he would not be a LB but instead he would play TE, I'm sure that qualifies as a flip when the recruit re-opens his recruitment due to scheme change or coaching change.
I'm not sure Justin Thomas is a flip from after Saban told him reasonably early in the recruiting process that he would get a chance to play QB at Bama, once QB was off the table Thomas looked for other schools and found GT.
My point isn't that everyone on it is bad, but that everyone has to share in the blame also.
A small sample vs. one TE (Ebron) with a horrible QB is not the end-all, be-all, IMO.
Overall he really didn't.
In isolation he did kinda OK, but our defense never really stopped the better teams we played as evidenced by our 1-3 bowl record during Jemea's career and then you also have to add in the 1-15 vs. the Big-4, you can't just blame all that on everyone else on Defense...
