I love being 5-2. I love that we have one of the best QBs in college football. I love that we ran for close to 400 yards against UNC. I love that we’re playing Notre Dame this weekend. Good guys win 24-20! Put on your gold colored glasses and enjoy this. Let the coaches worry about shortcomings...
I agree 100%. My point is more around a 4* out of high school probably has more upside than these 4* that are transferring. Again, i want them, but i'm not necessarily doing backflips. I look at FSU's current team as the poster child of this.
Too often I've seen Tech fans gush over getting a 4* transfer only for that player ending up being mediocre - serviceable yes, but not 4* quality. I'm not saying we shouldn't go after some of them. I'm just saying expectations should probably be adjusted accordingly.
I’m leery of the former 4* or 5* player transferring from School A to School B because of lack of playing time. They obviously have the measurables, but something seems to be missing. I’m not saying they can’t be good, but this is probably where the developed 2* or 3* with some grit is a better...
yeah, i understand FSU wants what Florida is getting. That's not going to happen for a whole bunch of reasons. I was just thinking there might be something trivial that FSU could use to save face and spin with their fanbase. Keep in mind most of their fanbase is delusional so they will buy in to...
It wasn’t until a year or two ago that the ACC agreed to give a bigger payout to the schools that went to bigger bowls, made the playoffs, etc. I’m pretty sure that was at the urging of FSU/Clemson (and maybe some others). I was shocked something like that wasn’t in place already. There could be...
When i see someone suggesting adding more crappy schools to the ACC is better, it reminds me of Spinal Tap where the guy says, "but our amp goes to 11." The ACC is good because we have 24.
3. The school presidents recognize the ACC is a better conference with Clemson and FSU.
I'm not advocating giving FSU/Clemson dumb type of concessions, but there might be something that could be enticing to those schools that wouldn't set a bad precedent for all of the other schools. I have no...
FSU didn't get screwed last year so they could put a second SEC or Big10 team into the playoffs. It was so the SEC wouldn't be left out. That's a significant difference in my opinion. If the ACC deserves to have a second team in the playoffs, i think that team gets in over a 4th SEC or 4th Big10...
I don't know anyone who doesn't think the college post season is better now that it has ever been. And, it's not a lateral move of changing a flawed system to a newer, but equally flawed systems. The new post season is significantly better. Your position seems to be if it's not perfect, than...
It's amazing how differently we look at this. The college Post Season is 100x better now than it's ever been. Sure, 1 team might have a gripe, but the vast majority of the teams are all legit. I have no desire to go back to the days were the top teams had no chance of playing against each other...
I may have agreed with the SEC being “slightly better” last year, but they just added Texas and Oklahoma - the SEC has a lot more mass than the ACC now. Imagine what ACC people would be saying if the ACC added Texas and Oklahoma. They would be saying the ACC is on par or even better than the SEC.
There's not a lot of difference between the middle/crap teams of the SEC and the middle/crap teams of the ACC. There's not a big difference in the top teams of the SEC and the top teams of the ACC. The difference is the SEC has 4 to 5 teams at the top level whereas the ACC has 1 to 2 teams at...
Me too. I'm a little surprised it wasn't in place before.
Additionally, the term “uneven revenue distribution” is misleading in my opinion. At the beginning of the season, each team gets X dollars. They can get X+ dollars depending on performance. I think teams that appear in the playoffs or...
I don’t think the “burned bridges” are irreparable. I look at it similarly to arbitration in baseball. You can have some ugly arbitrations with players who end-up signing long term contracts the following year. Granted, some players leave too. Everyone in these negotiations/litigations...
Same business model, but a very different delivery method. 5 years ago people were afraid of consuming a "streaming" service; they aren't so much anymore. That's a significant change.
Secondly, and more importantly, most markets only had a couple of choices for cable/satellite. The "streaming...
If i were ESPN, i would be nervous about Amazon. If Amazon decides they want to get into college football it will be a lot easier for them to poach the SEC from ESPN that it would be to get the Big10 from Fox/CBS/NBC. I also think more and more games will start transitioning to streaming...
