  1. Mike sewak

Spencer had the OT and Sewak had the C & OG. Since Spencer left, Seeak has been in charge of the whole line. I wonder if OT coaching isn't Sewak's forte or if he simply doesn't have the time to get into the weeds on how to play the positions because he has responsibility for the whole line...
  2. Ted Roof

This thread got me curious about a couple of things so I went and looked them up. No conclusions about the defense from the data for me. I just decided to post what I had found. After 9 games in 2014, opposing teams teams had scored 40+ points 1 times After 9 games in 2014, opposing teams...
  3. Radio Show

GT attempted a screen pass against FSU. Went for an interception as I recall...
  4. baffling Oline still struggling

As I recall, they have the ability to choose which release is best.
  5. Curious why our D always looks the same?

On the radio show CPJ said that last year he told Roof to get the defense off of the field as fast as possible. Either we stopped them right way or they scored right away. While that strategy could cause the game to turn into a shootout, CPJ was fine with that because last year's offense was...
  6. GTSwarm Remaining Season Outlook

Chan Gailey was a marvel of consistency. His teams won 7 games every year except for the one year they won 9. CPJ has definitely added some volatility to the win-loss schedule. Happily, that has included win totals not seen since 1990. Unhappily, we are in danger of seeing a loss total not...
  7. 3rd and 4...

Georgia Southern, under CPJ. Last year was Southern's first season in the FBS and they went 9-3. They're 4-1 so far this year. If you're going to tell me that Southern doesn't count, for whatever reason, then there is no answer I can give you that you would accept. What you are looking for...
  8. 3rd and 4...

The rocket toss would probably be a good play to call in that situation, but the players can't block it correctly so CPJ doesn't call it. Four or five years ago, that play was money and CPJ called it all the time, especially at the goal line. Then, the QB follow became fashionable and that's...
  9. Film Study Film Study - Offense vs ND

Absolutely more rocket toss! It seemed to me ND had everyone inside the tackle box, so I would think that that play would have been effective.
  10. Film Study Film Study - Offense vs ND

I question that it would have been effective. That play seems to work well only when the WR can stiff arm the CB. Otherwise it goes for minimal yardage. I doubt that the GT WR would have been able to do more than gain a yard or two. I just don't think they would have been able to defeat the...
  11. The downfield lateral, why we don't see it?

It's a spot foul, unless I'm misreading the rule.
  12. The downfield lateral, why we don't see it?

Just watching a few rugby clips on youtube, the style of play and rules of the game are what makes all the laterals possible, and, moreover, necessary. The offensive players not near the ball are usually weakly defended, meaning that the defense is distant and outnumbered, and there are...
  13. CPJ sez...

I wonder if CPJ got totally drunk if he'd call his ex-quarterbacks.
  14. Improvements desired for 15

By some measures, the offense was record setting last year. It is unrealistic to expect a repeat of that performance given the losses on the offense. CPJ will now have to call plays other than 'run behind Shaq'. And Smelter isn't here anymore for us to run the 3rd-and-who-cares play. Maybe...
  15. Running Right vs Running Left

I think defenses have gotten disproportionately better at defending the rocket toss than other aspects of the offense. From the stands, it always looks to me like the AB runs a different motion when the toss is on versus when an option play is on. The AB's orbit is wider than normal. As for...
  16. Any news on Shamire's weight loss progress?

A piece of lettuce on a cheeseburger doesn't count. :)
  17. NCAA release 2014 attendance data

FBS teams must have an average attendance, paid or actual, at home games of at least 15,000 per game. Must meet the attendance standard once in a two year rolling basis. I don't know what the penalty for failure to meet the attendance requirement.
  18. Smelter

Some of those plays were probably option routes. The QB and the WR have to read the CB the same way and if they don't you get a busted play or an interception. Of course, if they read the same way, the CB has almost no chance to defend. An example of the option read is when the WR and CB are...
  19. CPJ Radio Interview

I was surprised to hear about the plug in play approach to BB because I could swear I've heard CPJ once say the BB position was a hard one to play. Maybe he meant it in the context of its a harder position to play than it looks.
