General News about Key and his Staff

Without a doubt what you're describing about HS coaches are contacting assistants is exactly as you say. That 100% is the primary way, I suspect, college coaches find out about guys they don't already know about. Let me be clear that I don't believe many legit college coaches troll the...

General News about Key and his Staff

My impression is that the rankings themselves are meaningless for coaches who are true professionals with one exception. The fact that there are so many people contributing to the database of ranked players means that they could potentially find out about a player they had not heard of and then...

ACC coaches speak anonymously about every team ahead of 2023 season.

Yeah there's no way most of those quotes came from individual discussions with head coaches. Those feel to me more like snippets from other discussions with various football staffers over a beer.

ACC coaches speak anonymously about every team ahead of 2023 season.

I think the quotes are probably real. However, I think the definition of "coach" can be pretty loose at times and doesn't always mean an on-field coach. Also I suspect some of those quotes came from other interviews and just general discussions with staffers from around the ACC as the writers...

    Our Fan Base

During my senior year at GT I wrote for the Technique covering sports and our basketball team was pretty good. It was Tommy Hammonds's senior year and we went to the NCAA Tournament, losing to Texas in the first round. There were 2-3 times during the season where I wanted to go to away games...

    Our Fan Base

Weird I almost always get a response when I say "Go Jackets" to another GT fan out in the wild. Old and young alike. And I can't remember anyone being a curmudgeon when I've said something to them. In fact the only times I remember not getting positive responses are when the person doesn't...

The Toothpaste Thread | cousins may fight, but the Yellow Jacket family sticks together

So we’ve gotten to the point where we have to belittle the coaching hires of one GT team in order to prop up the coaching hires of another GT team. Am I missing something? (PS I am very happy with the hiring of Coach Damon and the assistants he’s bringing in)

Geoff Collins worst GT coach of all time

When you open this thread, which is your choice, what is it you expect to see? Is the title of the thread misleading? Is there any reasonable expectation when one opens this thread that it won’t be people talking about why Collins is or isn’t the worst coach in GT history?

Geoff Collins worst GT coach of all time

This is like two people duking it out arguing which was worse between Jersey Shore and Keeping up with the Kardashians. They were both awful in their own ways and as far as I'm concerned they can be 1A and 1B on the GT Football coaches suckitude list.

He may not think that's why he's there, but people showing up should be looking at it that way :ROFLMAO:

Geoff Collins worst GT coach of all time

I think he did try his best for the first three years. I am pretty sure he could see the end coming, knew the coaching changes to start year 4 were a Hail Mary that wouldn't work for him, and at that point he was mailing it in. I say that because even in those first few games you could see...

What made the Cremins years so special?

Tommy was a completely different person on vs off the court. When he stepped on the court he was, as you described, a beast. He was completely dialed in to the game and wasn't going to take any crap from anyone. Off the court he was as nice a guy as you could possibly imagine.

What made the Cremins years so special?

Nobody, except Bark Madley, disliked Bobby Cremins because he was so genuinely a nice man. He cared about the people around him even if they were on the other end of the court. The Cremins years in the mid-late 80s were absolutely magical. I grew up in Maryland a HUGE ACC basketball fan. I...

ROLL CALL FOR 2023 SEASON: (let's fix our attendance problem)

We are actually beginning to think this year may be the start of going to more games, perhaps buying season tickets again. For the last 20 years we've had so much kid-sports taking place nearly every weekend in the fall that we just couldn't maintain them. We tried for a while when the first...

I Know Im Beating a Dead Horse About TFG…

It’s amazing how many of you are letting him live rent free in your heads. If you really think so little of him then you wouldn’t care about his opinion but you obviously do. He shows his entire a$$ every time he says anything about it and everyone knows it. He’s a small man and really not...

I'm bored... let's predict the UNIFORMS for the upcoming season.

Right... calling a post a "look at me" post is pretty much the definition of a "look at me" post. So yeah, mine are also "look at me" posts. 😂

Have you ever randomly met any GT athletes/coaches?

I used to see Michael Cheever every so often at our chiropractor's office. I didn't recognize him the first time he walked in because he had lost so much weight since his playing days. Seriously the dude looked amazingly fit! Another guy I saw relatively frequently was Patrick Nix because...
