  1. Coaching Carousel 7 - When life gives you lemons, squirt someone in the eye

I agree with the other posters that this is not a big deal and the AD was largely doing his job. In all honesty I would expect TStan to do the same with CGC or CJP if he had to make that move. I'd be surprised if the coaches didn't have a good inkling of what was going to happen and they are...

  3. Coaching Carousel 7 - When life gives you lemons, squirt someone in the eye

Mike White's deal with UGA is 6 years, $20.4M. It's a bigger contract than he had at FL and a bigger contract than Crean had at UGA. Currently makes him the 6th highest paid coach in the SEC...
  4. Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

So after college football, women's college basketball players have made the most money through NIL. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/03/30/womens-college-basketball-endorsements-nil/ It also sounds like they may be doing the best in terms of what I will call 'true NIL' opportunities...
  5. Throw back Wednesday

One of my 2 all-time fav GT basketball players. Mark and Jose had one thing in common. Both were so hyper competitive, they absolutely hated to lose. You need a guy like that in your program because other players will follow them. He had those choir boy looks but he was insanely competitive on...
  6. Coaching Carousel 7 - When life gives you lemons, squirt someone in the eye

If Jonas can find a good mid-major job he should take that. That is really the next step for him. Get a mid-najor HC job, do well and then get a power conference gig.
  7. NCAA Tournament

Also contributing to this is that Marbury's stay and behavior while at GT (largely not going to classes, particularly in the spring) left a very sour taste in some important people's mouths and it was largely decided at that point that GT would not be recruiting individuals like that again and...
  8. NCAA Tournament

I was in school during the Scott - Anderson timeframe. I actually gave D3 a ride across campus one day because I had a car and he did not. I would see Kenny riding a bike across campus. It is a very different time. Recruiting changed drastically starting early in the 21st Century and has...
  9. NCAA Tournament

I wanted Duke to beat Arkansas, but I want whoever wins the St. Peter's-UNC game I will be rooting for next weekend. Duke is hardly a 'clean' program. That is a very naive view. Also, at this point there is no more money for the conference to be made. They are based on games played up to but...
  10. Coaching Carousel 7 - When life gives you lemons, squirt someone in the eye

Keep in mind that Memphis is one of the schools whose case is with the IARP, not the NCAA Committee on Infractions, so it is a different process than the old NCAA process. The big change is that the allegations are investigated by independent investigators. There is a notice of allegations and a...

Here's the CBSSports article on the violations. https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/memphis-and-coach-penny-hardaway-facing-several-major-allegations-of-violating-ncaa-rules/
  12. ACC Discussion 2021-22

Bingo on this. Their best teams will play good OOC teams, but the middle and bottom tier teams largely beat up on weak teams and play alot of home games.
  13. The 'weak' ACC has three teams in the Elite Eight!

The conference that has really performed the worst is the SEC. It had two 2 seeds, a 3 seed, a 4 seed and two 6 seeds. That translates to an expected wins number of 10.22 and the conference is 5-5 with just Ark left.
  14. The 'weak' ACC has three teams in the Elite Eight!

I wouldn't say the B10 folded, they slightly underperformed as a conference, largely because their most highly regarded teams were unable to make deep runs. They went 9-9 overall. But remember of their 9 seeds that included 2 of the First Four and an 11 seed, plus two 7 seeds who both lost 2nd...
  15. The 'weak' ACC has three teams in the Elite Eight!

I agree and it used to be a metric the committee used, but they did away with it over a decade ago. Of course in terms of the ACC it would not have helped this season. Wake did not have a strong finishing stretch. They were 6-4 over their last 10 and 6-5 over their last 11 and of those 6 wins 4...
  16. ACC Discussion 2021-22

The ACC's national perception this season was colored by the fact it had the worst record of any of the power conferences in games against other power conferences. When you lose most of your regular season games against other power conferences the perception is going to be that your conference...
  17. The 'weak' ACC has three teams in the Elite Eight!

While I would have enjoyed more ACC teams getting in, especially Wake - if you look at the Wake's resume they did not deserve a bid over the bubble teams that got in, it simply did not measure up. They had one of the worst OOC SOS in the entire country (343 out of 351) and only beat 2 likely...
  18. NCAA Tournament

I had the same result you did Cuse and I don't know about you but my confidence level was very low this year with brackets. It just didn't feel like there were any dominant teams that couldn't be beat if they weren't really on their A game. I always felt like my bracket was going to blow up...
  19. NCAA Tournament

Well my bracket went all to hell last night. Missed on all 4 games. On the positive side I can root hard for all the teams I want to win and not worry about my bracket. For me today my rooting interests will be St. Peter's, Providence, UNC And Miami, Go ACC, lets get more money for the conference.
  20. NCAA Tournament

I agree with this. I think the guard coaching could be better and recruiting definitely has to get better.
