Tech needs our pitching to pitch like they did tonight. Not to give up 18 walks and 3 HPB in a game. Although we had a lot of innings that could have gotten out of control tonight... Fortunately they didn't. But pitching is the key to us doing anything useful for the rest of this year.
  2. GT lacrosse 2020

We had a rough stretch from March 11 to April 2 where we lost 3 of 4 games to really good teams. Those 3 teams were ranked #3, #4, and #11 in the last MCLA poll I saw. We were #5. Those are our only 3 losses. Hopefully we got them out of our system and roll from here.
  3. Virginia Tech, Baseball

For the record, I was defending our performance through at least the Louisville series. Maybe through BC as well. We won 2/3 against Notre Dame (lost the third by a blowout...) and should have won 2/3 at Louisville. Gave up a big lead to lose to Auburn in extra innings in the middle of those...
  4. Virginia Tech, Baseball

Nope, out did them! A's had 17 BB and 2 HBP in 9 innings. We had 18 BB and 3 HBP in 8 innings pitched! One more walk and one more HBP in one less inning pitched. We're Georgia Tech, WE CAN DO THAT!
  5. Virginia Tech, Baseball

I see the progress. I'm watching the Mets - A's game tonight, and the A's pitcher had the following sequence: Walk, line out to RF, Walk, Walk, Walk, Walk, Grand Slam. Six runs, one hit. A professional baseball player at the highest level... Reminds me of Samol's first outing against Miami...
  6. Virginia Tech, Baseball

I think we're putting the nail in our own coffin. Lack of clutch hitting thus far, poor pitching, poor fielding.
  7. New Pro Jackets Progress

And then Maxwell comes in to pitch B9 against St. Lucie and just throws gas and strikes. 3 easy outs.
  8. New Pro Jackets Progress

Started watching the St. Lucie Mets game and Luke Bartnicki was on the hill. Got the first two outs, then BB, HBP, infield single, BB (forcing in a run), and BB (forcing in a run). Sound familiar?
  9. Does Hall's age hurt recruiting

Rankings are nice, but you could have highly ranked pitchers that have had their arms abused for years getting to those rankings. Then they have injuries when they get here. We need to have coaches that know how pitchers have been used/abused in high school and select pitchers accordingly...
  10. UNC, Baseball

Wow, with weather a potential factor I'd be surprised if we don't start Schmolke game 1 on Thursday. With the way he's pitched, and the fact we may not get another game, need Schmolke to start game 1 in my opinion.
  11. UNC, Baseball

ACC wise, we're right on track with where I thought we'd be. Would have preferred a little better OOC performance, but injuries have forced players into roles that they would not typically be in.
  12. NIL in CBB

Sounds to me like lottery winners that win millions of dollars and don't know how to handle it. Treat yourself to a new house, a new Porsche, give some away to your friends. Then you realize you have to pay taxes...
  13. UNC, Baseball

My preseason prediction was 1-2 and I'm sticking with it. Have not seen enough consistency from our team to change to 2-1.
  14. UNC, Baseball

Agree that keeping Connor in was the right move at the time. If he finished it off, he'd be a hero and Danny would as well for saving the pen for the next game (or two).
  15. @Boston College, Baseball

Mind boggling pitching meltdown. Oh well, it is what it is. Win the next game.
  16. @Boston College, Baseball

If both GT and BC's history of getting blown out 1 game a weekend hold true, I'll take the series win. If we win tomorrow, I want it all!
  17. @Boston College, Baseball

Listening to the game archive on WREK. Pregame Wiley said that Dawson was dealing with a shoulder issue. Do not anticipate him pitching this weekend, but hope to have him available for next weekend against UNC. We shall see.
  18. @Boston College, Baseball

Bourbon told me to trust your heart, but reminded me to look at past experience. Would like and expect 2/3, but I only see 1 with our experience in colder situations on the road. I hope I'm wrong.
  19. @Boston College, Baseball

I'm going to have to think long and hard on this one. My pre ACC season projection was 2-1, I believe. I can't find the spreadsheet I used to come up with my 15-15 overall record, but believe it included 2-1 at home vs ND, 0-3 at Louisville, and 2-1 at home against Clemson. I think it was 2-1...
