Glad to see GT actually doing it for once. Louisville did it against GT in that game whenever GT started to get momentum going as well. Literally happens every game that is close. Getting brownie points because you’re the “morally better team” won’t help you in this situation. And GT’s...
He has a right to complain. The referee didn’t make the wrong call. But as you pointed out, the refs didn’t establish a consistency on what was allowed and what wasn’t. UConn had been doing those moving picks all game long. In fact, there were more obvious ones on just the possessions before...
I liked Pastner and wanted to see what he had in store for this year even though I understood he didn’t do enough to deserve to keep his job. I say that to say this isn’t the year to grade CDS. It’s a frustrating season and though I believed GT would have had a better season under Pastner this...
It actually looked like they were trying to chase down the referee who didn’t give them the call they wanted so they could argue about it and then realized a court storming was about to happen. If you look closely, that referee bolted to the tunnel as soon as the buzzer sounded.
I was saying who cares about my first statement. Just enjoy the win even if you don’t think this game proves anything. It was directed towards some other posters.
It’s neither as good or as it bad as it seems. Who cares. Big win. Fun game to watch. Will be interesting to see how GT looks once Stoudamire has his guys. There’s hope for the future. Don’t know if there’s hope for this season as the team hasn’t shown consistency but now is a good time to...
I don’t think the refs were shown the side angle that we saw on tv for George’s three. You could see the angle they kept showing the refs on the monitor and they were only showing the angle from the front which wasn’t a clear angle. Idk why video reviews don’t provide the same angles that are...
The team is in a limbo where they’re not good enough yet to win a game easily & not give fans so much stress (maybe against Louisville) but they’re good enough to fight in every game to the end regardless of the opposition. I think the zone in OT was to save some legs for offense and just...
Good to see two good halves. I almost thought about turning it off after the 1st half because I figured that was going to be GT’s one good half lol. There were some lucky 3s made in the first half but they were playing well on offense regardless. A winnable game at the end just got to cut down...
One, I’ve already said that I believed Kelly was fouled before the hook & hold but what what Kelly did was very obvious. I don’t know how NCAA rules handle that situation when one is a common foul and another is a flagrant.
Two, the guy was absolutely bumped into but you can argue that he...
Terrible idea. It was a clear hook & hold. And I thought the non traveling call that led to the tech was also debatable and, in fact, I was leaning towards the official being right. The officials were actually right significantly more than wrong in this game. The close calls are being...
It didn’t change the outcome. Gt not playing well for 12+ min changed the outcome. It was a clear hook and hold, though I think he got fouled before the hook and hold.
Didn’t lose because of the refs but I thought Miles Kelly got elbowed in the face before the hook and hold happened. That situation hurt combined with the following tech. Once Stoudamire lost control of his emotions, it was over for the team as you could tell everyone in the gym was losing...
If you look at it again, you will see there is contact made by the defender on the floor and the shooter’s feet. Very minimal though and you could argue it was the shooter kicking out their feet. I would also like to see replay again to see if the defender slid just a little bit into the...
This is true for just about every sport you’ll watch starting at the high school level and up. Each conference will also have their priorities on what they want their referees to focus on for the season when reffing their conference games. NCAA (or whatever governing body the colleges are...
It will depend if the FSU players going to the NFL decide to play or not. I can see them deciding it’s over and they need to look out for their future to which I wouldn’t blame them. But I really hope they’re pissed off enough to want to play
I’m rooting for Texas to win it all and Bama to lose in the 1st rd. I’m also rooting for FSU to be the last team undefeated. How would not be able to say they aren’t national champions in that scenario?
I should’ve put that I’m a ref in another college sport but a lot of refs that I ref with also do major conferences in CBB and other college sports (some of who I used to yell at myself lol). What I said is more of generalization of how referees ref and think. It is all similar, regardless of...
As a D1 ref, myself, we’ll certainly make bad calls in a game but the goal is to be consistent and always get the game critical decisions right. If we make a call that isn’t consistent then we’ll have to communicate to the player(s) or coaches and just know it doesn’t help making the same...
My Miss St friend said the same thing about the 50/50 balls. He was very frustrated. Knew there was no chance of a come back without a bounce going their way. Plus, a few of their stupid turnovers that had nothing to do with GT’s defense
