I was thinking about this as well. You sort of answered the question in that we adjusted the offense to something that better fits and undersized team without a center to focus an offense around. The tempo is noticeably faster and the spacing is further from the rim. Franklins screens are...
I have watched Sturdivant and saw significant contact. Doesn’t have to be a push to be a foul. Wrong standard.
If the final play is not a foul, I don’t know what to tell you. Whether or not, it was a great play or a high percentage play doesn’t matter. You pull somebody down it’s a foul.
We foul more than we should No argument there but that is no excuse for the travesty we experienced at the end of that game. One doesn’t mean the other
Franklin was pulled to the ground. Guess we should have been called for a flop
I saw a totally different play on Sturdivant than you...
Eh I think Roy was more into land speed records. At least that was what he focused on in recruiting PGs. Beat you down court and put as much pressure on you as I can. And then have guys in predictable spots. ;)
Glad he is with GT but I can imagine Smith would have been a monster in the old school Dean/Roy fast break UNC teams.
I wish we did more to put him in space and even dare I say it engineer a switch so he gets to go against a big.
Neither team has been very good but they are reasonably evenly matched so it should be an entertaining game. Obviously ND is going to jack 3's and our D is supposed to be good against the 3. We will push the ball into the paint and they are not known as a rim protecting team so there is hope...
To pile onto Ivy's point - the argument we need a coach who showed he can do it in a bad job says we expect to continue to be a "bad" job by not investing the required resources to be a "good" job. That let's the AD/Prez off the hook. We need to find the resources to make this a "good" job...
I agree with you. You don’t have to have rotations down to the minute but everybody needs to know the role and it helps a lot if you know you’re gonna play. Right now this is like random roulette wheel as to who’s gonna play where and when
We obviously played better than we have in a while. Shot started to fall. Makes a huge difference.
To me, it was simply an issue that state had another gear when they needed it and we didn’t. They use that gear end of the half an end of the game and we had nothing.
I did think Pastor did a...
Just to get things off on the right "foot", Wes Durham was on a local radio show and said he had been told a GT player had an ankle "incident" in shoot around today. Not sure the extent or who it was just more good news.
If we can keep them from playing volleyball on the offensive boards we have a small chance. Obviously we have to get and make shots But Duke has just out athleted folks this year
I have heard 2 ACC assistant coaches say that when they are recruiting top guys they often (not always) have to meet first with the kids NIL agent. The agent will say this is the number - if you can meet the number then we can talk. Agent confirms the number with the NIL group before the coach...
I would disagree with that. We have deep 3 point shots primarily way beyond the top of the key that come from our offense. We also get 3's when our guard comes up the lane and gets a handoff around the foul line for a turnaround 3 at the top of the key. Those are tough and often contested...
That is what I understand it is based on the percentage buyout in the contract. I believe that is a very doable buyout sum for a P5 basketball program. The issue as Ivy and the ice cream eater have pointed out - is do we have the money, desire, focus and wherewithal at this point with the...
I agree with you Shirley and let me take it a bit further. Our coach has said that he believes this is his best shooting team ever. The reputations of several of these players is that of a good to very good shooter - Coleman, Kelley, Terry and even Maxwell and Sturdivant. We obviously haven't...
