Usually the deal is if the player asks to be subbed out because they are tired then they get to say when they are ready to go back in. It was a trend from the days of Dean Smith that many teams employ.
If the coach decides you are lagging and pulls you out himself then the coach gets to decide...
I am watching Louisville and Arkansas State and I can’t believe this is Louisville. There is nobody on that team that looks like any kind of difference maker or any better than any Arkansas State player. And they have made multiple really basic mistakes trying to run a defensive system. I knew...
CDS has a gravi tas that GT hasn't had since Hewitt was a hot commodity. Throw in Hobbs and I expect we will have more talent and options than we are used to having.
Although this is right now a pretty simple set that we are running with the high pick and roll, there are, as you infer, a lot of tweeks and adjustments from both the teams defending us (make George a scorer) and how we react (kick out when the help comes). It will be a cat and mouse game but...
I will be curious to see if UGag tries to make George a scorer instead of a facilitator. Go under screens and don’t help when he attacks the basket. What I would do
I only got to see the first half. Obviously liked what I saw.
We tweeked the offense a bit. Less dependence on the high ball screen to initiate the offense and more on passes and downscreens to get things going which led to player and ball movement before trying to penetrate. Makes it a lot...
Yep - I do expect us to play a lot better than we did last time. Let's see what we get tonight. They must compete as you say and I hope there are a few tweeks in the offensive approach.
And he should get blowback for the start of the season. Ain't good. As for my starting comment - I would point out there are multiple posts here saying CDS will never change but I want Pastner back. I just saw a little irony in that - and totally agree with your comment that Pastner should...
No question - why I tried to label it as our "core" approach not our only set. We have run a set that starts with downscreens and has a nice curl action and we also ran a nice flex cut set a couple of times for a Deebo corner 3. I am sure there are a couple I missed. So I am not saying we...
Interesting to read folks giving up on CDS for not making changes 4 games in while Pastner rode the modified princeton halfway through the season before making changes
The base offense we ran against Cincy and have been running is a core NBA approach for a high ball screen and roll with...
That was my point at least the point I intended to get across. It isn’t just rhythm but we don’t have a coherent set or movement to get any advantage over the defense
The biggest issue tonight is Cincy has totally locked us down. A large part of that is we aren’t moving or doing anything to stress the defense. It has led to a lot of the turnovers. That is fixable so I don’t view this as end of the world yet holiday
I haven't seen Cincy but if they have the inside game described with a couple of real bigs then we likely will see Dowuona for some stretches. Offense will be a challenge but he gives length, energy and fouls on D.
Yep - I was saying of the big men on offense. I love Dowuaona's energy on the roll as he commands help with how hard he rolls - but if he gets the ball more than 3 feet from the basket it is an automatic turnover. I think he has the potential to be more of an interior defender but he can't...
These guys have to decide they want to play with the energy and toughness it takes to win basketball games in D1. Until they do that the specifics don’t matter
We played it offense like we expected that any time we could go 1 on 5 and win. That isn’t going to happen. We have to run legit...
