  1. North Carolina Hires New DC - Geoff Collins

Everyone gets sick of their coach at some point, if they have a few bad seasons - bad meaning not meeting fan expectations. See: Clemson. I think Bowden and JoePa are among the few I remember that earned the right to have some terrible seasons. Shoot - we ran Paul Johnson off.
  2. North Carolina Hires New DC - Geoff Collins

I feel like he proved as a head coach that his activity level isn’t typically focused on the things that are important. He may be working harder during the week of our game, but I don’t think it will be smarter.
  3. North Carolina Hires New DC - Geoff Collins

On the flip side, it may have let us go with Key for budgetary reasons. Silver lining IMHO.
  4. Conference Realignment

Not pointed at you NE Stinger but to everyone - use this thread to improve your ignore list. I can’t see about 25% of the posts here related to UGA, and I’m all the better for it.
  5. Haynes Kings needs to develop _____ during the offseason take the next step as a QB?

Pass game decision making. Also needs to throw with his receivers every day to develop chemistry, so he can throw more anticipatory routes
  6. Only off topic coversations!

McCollum would be great, he just finished his first year as HC at Sewanee. We don't have an on-field coach that is listed as the Recruiting Coordinator, so it may make sense for him. I was thinking that he would want a DC-level job, but he has been mostly a position coach / recruiting...
  7. Only off topic coversations!

I heard the real long shot was................George O'Leary
  8. Potential DC for Next Year

I don't think this job posting thing is a thing anymore. I don't see any jobs posted on the Georgia Tech website, and if there was a job posting for "defensive coordinator" I'm sure it would've been picked up by the media in some way.
  9. Potential DC for Next Year

Oh, I agree. Wasnt trying to be snarky. I just mean that we often see the implication that background checks might take a week, but examples indicate that things can move much more quickly than that. I feel like that excuse is often used to soft pedal something to manage expectations. It’s a...
  10. Potential DC for Next Year

Their loss, our gain. People used to say that Paul Johnson was playing chess while other coaches were playing checkers on the field. Starting to feel that way about Key’s management of the program.
  11. Conference Realignment

They beat Florida with their backup, the same team that Missouri had to beat with a walk-off FG. Playing a 3rd stringer (true freshman, no less) in the ACC Championship game wasn’t even the QB that would play in the bowl game.
  12. Haynes King Update: How Do We Feel About Him?

Did you ever hear about the carpool lane at BYU’s practices? Their kids would pick them up so they could study on the way home.
  13. Conference Realignment

The kid probably doesn’t enter the portal now if they are in the playoff. He can always do it in April and has a chance for a championship.
  14. Haynes King Update: How Do We Feel About Him?

Probably why he and Weinke get along so well.
  15. Potential DC for Next Year

We went from first meeting to press conference in about 48 hours with Stoudamire, over a weekend no less. I don’t think our background check process holds up the hiring process.
  16. Sugar Bowl

UM - UW would be a good game, defense vs offense. I tend to believe that defense wins that matchup most of the time.
  17. Sugar Bowl

This Penix kid is pretty amazing. 255 yards on 11/14. Throws a beautiful deep ball, elusive in the pocket with a fast release. I’m impressed.
  18. Potential DC for Next Year

The AJC has an article. The guy is highly experienced and has been Co-DC and assistant head coach, so I’m sure he will be either DC or co-DC. Looks like a good hire, given the link to Buford HS.
  19. Brand New Transfer Season NIL talk

Impossible to identify that number, but I would call all of those “involuntary attrition”. Both would use the same denominator.
  20. Conference Realignment

This website shows 6% from student fees, 5% from "institutional support".
