You are correct. Our interior defense and our defensive rebounding effort have been sub-standard. We have had much roster turnover in that part of the team. I wouldn't be too judgmental yet but the effort appears to be lacking at this point. As I said earlier, it is a lack of confidence. Fixable.
That is a good team. We should be able to beat them on talent and size alone but that was a solid club who will contend in their league.
Kelly is in a shooting slump. Sturdivant had a terrible second half. Our inside guys continue to bail out opponents by chopping down for a foul after they...
It is way too early to extrapolate free throw shooting statistics. Unless someone has a terribly inconsistent approach or fundamentally incorrect stance it isn't likely to improve one's FT shooting during the season.
Kelly shot 93% for the season last year. He didn't suddenly become a 61% FT...
If you are pleased with the interior defense you must be among the world's most pleasant people. Again, crazy results happen in November in college basketball. Winning it instead of losing it is a good thing.
Another way to spin it is that we now have lots of how not to play interior defense...
Early November games can be ugly, especially with a lot of roster turnover. Our interior defense delivered on that tonight.
I am glad to get a win playing poorly. There is something to be said for the cliche "finding a way to win."
I would think so. And Fox had floated an idea that they might try to stage their own tournament with Big 12, Big Ten and Pac teams (the conferences with whom they have media rights).
The propensity of GT fans to throw their own under the bus with very flimsy accusations is a long running theme. The level of insecurity and self-hatred necessary to say that Ron Bell may have had a point when the accuser was an obvious scammer with no credibility and an axe to grind was...
It said briefly in 2021, which may or may not coincide with either his time at Pacific or when her company was a vendor. It is also unclear to me whether the company was hired by the athletic department or the basketball team, which may or may not be relevant. There is much ambiguity that...
I have no doubt he'll get another head coaching job. I supported him as long as he was our coach. I didn't see any way bashing him helped anybody. He really started to lose me when it sounded like he thought it was normal to have to reset expectations after Jose/Moses left.
I don't think he...
The swings in categories are due to a lack of accounting standards. All of the schools put different stuff in different buckets. The totals are all that really matter.
There aren't any standards for what goes where in those statements. You can't compare them directly. The bottom lines are the only things worth looking at.
Neither Justin Thomas nor Reggie Ball played in an NFL game. Neither was on an active roster. I am not sure if Nesbitt played but he was on the active roster for a few games. Shawn Jones played in 1 NFL game. Jones did play QB in the CFL. I think he was Tracy Ham's back up.
To segue back to the...
AckSHually, discounting the fact in this thread there are multiple guys that are at least borderline NBA players would counter that simplistic take. And we don't even need to get into the guys playing professionally elsewhere.
