    Conference Realignment

It's called Free Will. FSU freely entered the contract multiple times. That leaving might be a bad business decision is irrelevant. Coca-Cola famously signed a contract guaranteeing to sell syrup at a fixed price regardless of the price of sugar. At the time, they thought no one would ever...

    Conference Realignment

I was involved in a lawsuit many years ago. The plaintiff sued our firm over a small claim but cited irreparable harm and asked for $100 million in damages. As the lawyers entered, they brought handtrucks with dozens and dozens of document boxes. "We intend to prove our case, the mounds of...

How, exactly? FSU received only benefits.

Or couldn't Fox or CBS take over? I would think CBS would love to back in the mix.

RIP Aubbie HoF WR Terry Beasley (Links)

TB was known to be woefully depressed. I can't imagine. But as a kid, he and Pat Sullivan were icons. That's what you aspired to be in backyard ball. RIP.

    Conference Realignment

That's nonsense. Swofford can claim that it was in the ACC's interests to maintain a healthy local distributor of content regardless of who was employed there. And it would be up to FSU to prove otherwise. Bob Woodruff at Coke did it for decades through his relationship at White Trucks. Two...

    Conference Realignment

FSU is attempting to demonstrate that the ACC decisions are not normal and customary. The ACC, in its defense, is free to argue that they are and that, for example, Notre Dame's practices are similar.

Selective enforcement once again: NCAA strikes again

Herbstreit noted Harbaugh's departutre to the NFL along with BC's coach. There is simply too much to do in CFB (recruiting, re-recruiting the roster, NIL, etc) that the NFL is looking increasingly attractive for those that just want to coach.

Enrollment figures are available. How schools respond varies. I will give you one "Boomer doom-casting". I was made aware of two institutions on the doom list and knew both. So I asked them. One, a private school, slashed its tuition in half and still can't get enough students to sustain...

    College football is a mess

I suppose you can argue it was money. I recall that Tech PAID to join the ACC because many of its contracts with historical SEC teams were ending and they were struggling to remain scheduled with almost anyone. The ACC gave them two things ... immediate access to the basketball tourney and...

    Conference Realignment

This happens all the time. ACC (Swofford): "Of course we wanted Raycom to remain viable. Everyone knew FSU was a pain in the rear end and they might do this. And if we lost our position with ESPN, we would be screwed. So, we organized it in a way that an alternative would remain available to...

Selective enforcement once again: NCAA strikes again

You didn't read my post (see above). Everything ISN'T above board. There are cash payments being made TODAY by students for coursework. Why? Because they can. I know one personally who was simultaneously enrolled at 5 institutions. Who is checking on this? No one. You might be ok with this...

    Conference Realignment

Wasn't the whole point for the ACC adding Cal, SMU, and Stanford to offset the potential loss of FSU and/or Clemson? I really wish FSU would just pay the fee and leave.

I don’t know. Probably not. Undistributed funds are usually reinvested. It depends on the funding and distribution model.

UGA will probably be fine. The problem is that there was a dearth of kids born in 2008, and that bubble is exp to hit by 2025-26. I know of a few second tiers universities that are broke and everyone is just waiting for the announcement. Top universities have enough demand to survive.

I have heard the same. Reports are that 25% of universities in the U.S. will close.
