    Northeastern game thread.

Playing zone defense was not the reason we rebounded poorly in the Iowa game. Our guys were there at the rim a lot, sometimes with superior numbers. They just got out hustled, out worked, and beat at the fundamentals of positioning and boxing out.

I agree, he’s not a five, I’m just saying he does pretty well with the ball in the low post, so get him the ball down there. We don’t need him trying to break down defenders on the perimeter.

And of course we need a 5. I’m not saying Moore should be it, but he should play more/mostly in the low post. He has better back-to-the-basket low post moves than I have seen on this team in several seasons. And he’s not very good away from the basket, so he should be getting the ball on the block.

    Iowa Game

Giving up crazy numbers of offensive rebounds and 2nd chance points killed us. Also giving up 30+ points and 20 rebounds ( yes, 20 rebounds to one guy) to their best player didn’t help us. Our offense actually looked better than it has all year. Not great, but better. We hit several dribble at...

    GT vs. N. Alabama--11/26/22

This game was more of the same, meaning more bad offense. We won easily as expected, but that was just because we had better athletes/players at every position 2 deep. We got almost zero production out of our sets/motions on offense. The way we are running the Princeton point series is a...

Is the Ft. Myers Tip-Off still on?

Pastner did not have this team ready for prime time. I hope they are better than what they have shown so far. We looked like a division II team against Marquette. I’m not sure if we have second rate talent or second rate coaching or both. How many seasons of this crap do we have to put up with...

Is the Ft. Myers Tip-Off still on?

Completely outclassed in the first half. We have absolutely no half court offense. We help and move/rotate too much on defense, which results in guys constantly being left wide open.

Is the Ft. Myers Tip-Off still on?

Meka could probably help on defense and rebounding, but he is such a liability on offense that it just about offsets any contribution he might make on the other end. That may be why he is not playing, or it might be injury.

Is the Ft. Myers Tip-Off still on?

There is a pattern to how our guards dribble drive deep into the lane, pick up their dribble, pivot to put their back to the basket, then shoot a turn around shot. In my opinion, they are clearly being coached to attack the basket using this pattern, but, in my opinion, they don’t connect at a...

Is the Ft. Myers Tip-Off still on?

Interesting that we looked hopeless when Utah switched to zone, considering we are a zone heavy defensive team.

Is the Ft. Myers Tip-Off still on?

Poor showing. Way too much hero ball, especially by our athletic, backup point guard.

    GT 68 - NIU 50

On our free throw defense, my 8 year old son deserves some credit. Free throw defense is his specialty 😉 On our poor 3pt%, I thought we shot several wide open 3’s from way too deep. I know everybody has crazy range these days, but if you’re wide open and you have time, why shoot from a step...

GT vs NIU basketball game MEGATHREAD.

Smith had one of his better games. He did a lot of the good things he is capable of with way fewer mistakes than he normally makes. His shooting was just ok, but 6 assists and only 1 turnover is awesome, 9 rebounds was second leader on the team, and 3 blocks for a guy his size were very...

    Battle of ATL

I’m glad tech got the W, but watching on tv we looked pretty bad doing it except for that stretch in the second half where got up by about 8 or so. I like the Princeton high post set, but the way we run it lately seems way too congested, and we hardly ever actually make any passes to the...

    Battle of ATL

I watched on tv, and it looked pretty sparse. I read somewhere that their new arena holds about 8k , so only about 50% capacity. Not impressed, but kudos to the students and others who were there if they made it loud. I figure that’s probably about what we would have drawn for the game if it had...

    TECH VS MIAMI POSTGAME

When I saw Pyron lower his shoulder and deliver/take that hit, I thought , “Oh man, that looked like a hard hit, I wonder if he could’ve been hurt doing that”, but he got up and showed no sign of pain and played the next snap, which of course turned out to be the interception. When he jogged off...

    GT fan day info

A couple of folks have shared their experiences of having given up Callaway Club seats for seats in other lower level sideline sections due to their perceived value received or, lack there of, for the premium price of Callaway Club. Thanks for sharing y’all’s feedback. I have toyed with the idea...

    HC Candidate/Rumors/Info Thread

I don’t think Collins had a strategy… maybe more of a vision of what he thought GT could be or what he wanted GT to be. I don’t think he had any concrete steps or plan of action to getting there, and that’s why it wasn’t a strategy, and why he failed. All he had was a vision of what he wanted...
