    NC State Game @ McCamish

I will add that Howard, for all of the crap that gets, oftentimes rightfully so, played a very good game. Moore was also very good and Franklin also played well in more limited time. It was our guards, pretty much all of them, that didn’t get it done on the offensive side in this one. I thought...

    NC State Game @ McCamish

I was at the game and attendance, which has never been good anyway, is definitely waning. Abysmal shooting obviously killed our chances in this game. 2/21 on 3’s and 8/19 on FT’s is almost unbelievable. And ncstate was money from the free throw line. I will say ncstate’s full court, on-ball...

    Pitt January 14th Game

I feel similarly about Deebo. My question is what are the type of scoring opportunities that he excels at? Im guessing maybe wide open spot up 3’s? He actually does “ok” going downhill in the lane by using his body mass, but he doesn’t look particularly comfortable or eager doing it in my...

    Pitt January 14th Game

Ok, Are you Andy Demetra, or Did you just plagiarize the hell out of Andy’s inside the chart article on rambliwreck.com, or Did you use use Chatgpt to write an intro paragraph to the GT vs Pitt basketball game in the style of Andy Demetra?

I hear you. Maxwell definitely isn’t shy. I actually kind of like his game too, but his fg% doesn’t warrant giving him much freedom I guess.

Pastner’s teams haven’t used a box set inbound like that very much, but they’ve used it a few times recently, and it’s usually ended up a cluster if I remember correctly. Should have probably stuck with their regular inbound set where they use a 2man screen near the top of the lane.

I couldn’t believe it even went to overtime because I still can’t believe their freshman baller missed that wide open layup at the end of regulation.

Decent effort , but it sucks to lose again, and it felt sort of inevitable for a lot of the game. Big night by both of our point guards, which is kind of ironic since that’s been a weak spot during a lot of games this year. Like others have pointed out, we choked big time at the end of each...

Some X and O's on our offense

You are onto something about poor decision making by the 5 man at the high post , but lately I think Howard is still our best option at that position. Our offense has suffered and bogged down at times ( often) partly because the 5 man seems too hesitant to make the decision to actually make...

Some X and O's on our offense

YlJacket, thanks for this input. I wasn’t familiar with the term Zoom before watching that video. However, I would suggest that the author of the video applies the term to the basic sequence of a ball screen handoff to a cutter running off of a pin down screen. It is a sequence that can be run...

    Miami 1/4/23 - GAME THREAD

It is a bit sad, but what else can you do?, and I think it is effective. It’s better when more than just the pep band does it. You can’t just let the opponent’s fans take over the arena.

    Miami 1/4/23 - GAME THREAD

Gents and ladies, we still ran lots of the Princeton Point series, we just ran it much better than we have been, especially early in the game. Rodney made 2 great passes to cutters out of the high post within the first few minutes of the game. He also made a pass or a handoff to Kelly who then...

    Miami 1/4/23 - GAME THREAD

Well that was refreshing. Great win! Fun game! Fun atmosphere in the Thrillerdome, especially down the stretch. It’s fun when we win!

    When does Pastner feel heat

The original point I was responding to was that our 2 point guards, Sturdivant and Smith, and our supposed best spot up 3 point shooter, Coleman (approx 40% last season), are all shooting below 70% from the line. The original poster said that these guys should be able to hit 80% from the free...

    When does Pastner feel heat

Ok, sorry for the thread detour, but out of curiosity, I checked ncaa.com, and there are 190 players in D1 that are shooting over 80% from the line with at least 40 attempts. Most of them are short guards. Apparently only 4 of them play in the ACC ( not really, I didn’t look that closely, but...

    When does Pastner feel heat

Maybe so, I haven’t scoured the stats, but damn, y’all are really going to argue with me that point guards shouldn’t be able to shoot 80% with their eyes closed? I guarandamntee you my old a$$ can shoot 70%. 😜

    When does Pastner feel heat

Ok, fine, let me rephrase, point guards should easily be able to shoot above 80% from the free throw line.

    Tech basketball players

I think Meka and Cyril are two of the guys to whom you are referring, and they both ride the pine, so their absence has absolutely no impact on the game. Tristan is probably the third player to whom you are referring, and he has been impactful in all of 2 games in 2 years, or is it 3 years, I...

    When does Pastner feel heat

This poster’s field goal and 3 point shooting benchmarks are completely ridiculous, but he’s not wrong about his free throw shooting expectations. It’s unbelievable how poorly college players shoot free throws these days.

    UVA - 12/31

Turnovers were the story of this game. Both teams shot similarly well from the field and beyond the arc. Neither team shot particularly well from the free throw line, but the net difference was only 1 point from the stripe. The difference was turnovers. It was 23-11 on turnovers. Eleven more...
