  1. Shout out to Dontae Smith

Dontae went to the 2018 Bowl Game. He has used his Covid year.
  2. Cuse Postgame

D coaches did a good job pregame scheming and an equally good job substituting during the game (with the exception of those red zone late subs). It may not be an ideal scheme against everyone but whatever the D scheme did to allow our LBs to greatly participate in the game was a spectacular...
  3. Game 11 #CUSEvsGT Ramblings

I know a coach who in his 25 year career never had a kickoff returned for a TD. You could say he worked on coverage in practice but you could also recognize that he did not believe in kicking a ball on purpose to the other team's likely best player. If you cannot depend on getting it in the...
  4. Potential DC for Next Year

Whatever we did this week to get our LBs on the tackling stat sheet is what we should do. Having 3 safeties lead the tackling stats and the first LB on the list being a RS freshman is not a formula for success. With all eleven playing D this past week we looked like a real D. Let our DC do his...
  5. Cuse Postgame

Singleton is a true freshman, a little undersized, and not a running back type to take big hits. I think the O has put too much on him lately and not utilzed Boyd, Blaylock, and especially Rutherford as much as we should. With the talent we have we should not be putting so much on a freshman and...
  6. Scheme Changes for Syracuse ?

Thanks. I saw pieces of that D alignment but you put the whole picture together for me. Good plan by the coaches. I did not see the freshman LT MacKenny or Sims at corner. Were they hurt? I was watching warmups when WR Lane seemed to pull a leg muscle and he could not continue warmups. Harvey...
  7. Cuse Postgame

Actually King threw to the wrong receiver. Because the safety came over to help coverage on Singleton the receiver (maybe Blaylock) just inside of Singleton around the hash marks was wide open deep (should have been the safetys man).
  8. Scheme Changes for Syracuse ?

one short complete and one short intercepted
  9. Scheme Changes for Syracuse ?

Since I have a coaching mindset I was contemplating what scheme change I would make for what I would need to do to stop the Syracuse run. I came up with a couple of options that were interesting but I am not sure actually what our DC came up with, but it was successful. Does anyone know exactly...
  10. Potential DC for Next Year

Not arguing Roof one way or another but your data is flawed. CPJ years time of D possession was small as were the number of opportunities for the opposition. After CPJ our O was so bad that our D TOP went way up along with more opportunities for the opposition.
  11. GT 45-UVA 17 #GTvsUVA postgame

H King is fast but often he is in a slower gear, usually looking down field. I think this is OK on early downs but on third downs I want him to run full speed when he is flushed and not be cruising and looking. I prefer to see him go for the sticks to keep the drive alive on third downs and...
  12. Game 8 #UNCvsGT Postgame

I have watched and been frustrated on several of these plays. Our line shifts one way leaving our outside guy on the other side lined up inside of a blocker with the angle to seal him inside. We have lost outside leverage on the line so who has the outside responsibility? It is either a nearside...
  13. Game 8 #UNCvsGT Postgame

Team win. When the announcers announced H King " impact player of the game" I could see that from the stands and STATS. My daughter said Singleton and Rutherford for getting us back into the game. I saw Dontae as completing the win that he so helped to create. I later thought about all the...
  14. Its early but BC Roll Call

Daughter and I will be in the north stands
  15. Haynes King Update: How Do We Feel About Him?

I thought H King ran full speed several times and it really looked good. He ran for daylight and turned it on. In past games I thought he often was giving too much wiggle and he looked awkward and somewhat indecisive and slow. I hope he is watching his own tape.
  16. Brent Key is not the answer

The announcers told the same story but if you look at the film the short receiver first covered by our CB turned inside, instead of to the sideline as the announcers sketched, and our LB quickly picked him up. The very aware CB , now relieved of coverage, then hustled into deeper coverage...
  17. #GTvsMIA Schadenfreude

This was the point the M coach made after the game. He was most concerned about giving up the last sccore the way it happened.
  18. #GTvsMIA Postgame

I agree if you know for sure the kick will be in the endzone. But you don't. If not it is a bigger risk than a squib for a run back because the best returner on the squib should not be fielding the ball.. I personally never agree with purposibly giving the other team's best player the ball...
  19. #GTvsMIA Postgame

His arm (elbow) was down right at the time the ball was being ripped out. It was a close call that would have gone the other way if it had been ruled differently in real time.. It took indisputable evidence to overturn the call on the field. "indisputable" did not exist.
  20. Worst coaching decision... ever?

Thanks for responding to help make my point. You are correct about the clock. In the excitement of the game I made this mistake. Football is a game of mistakes.
