  1. Paul Johnson visiting the Ravens today

It sounds like they are mostly going to bounce ideas off of CPJ. Probably getting his thoughts on strengths/weaknesses of certain plays that they want to install. Probably also looking for ideas or concepts that they may not have considered. They might talk a bit about methods for training...

11 am is fine with me.
  3. Coaching Acumen of the New Staff...

Then you have the wrong scheme for your players.
  4. Coaching Acumen of the New Staff...

I think that the aggregate coaching acumen of the new staff is better than the prior staff. It’ll be lumpy, of course, with some positions upgrading and some downgrading. I’m not concerned about it. I’m really more concerned about if Collins and company can match the scheme to the players...
  5. GTSWARM members get together

A couple times. It’s OK. If you are a connoisseur of finishing holes, #18 is memorable for all the wrong reasons.
  6. GTSWARM members get together

The Frog, Bradshaw Farms, Wolf Creek, Cobblestone, Stonemont, Lakemont, Mystery Valley, Cherokee Run are some public or semi-private courses that probably fit the bill without being terribly far away. To stay in town, you have to play an Atlanta municipal course, of which your best options are...
  7. GTSWARM members get together

I was told by a City Club Marietta employee a few weeks ago that the course will be closed for several weeks beginning right after Memorial Day in order to re-do the greens. I don’t know how firm the schedule is or if it has changed since then.
  8. Was our defense hamstrung in the past?

If a DC was handicapped, it was recruiting. Blame for recruiting woes is a multi-faceted affair. My current favorite punching bag for that is Bobinski. I think he penny pinched the program of funds. CPJ probably needed a few guys like Collins on staff for recruiting help.
  9. Paul Johnson era signature game

Saying ‘I don't know what to make of Coach Collins yet’ is hardly casting doubt. Casting doubt would be something like ‘I question that CCG can do better’. That said, I do agree with you though that the OP should have left any reference to the current coaching staff out of his post. By...
  10. General Investing and Economics Discussion - No Politics

How do you know if your lawyer is any good? How about your mechanic? Your CPA? The guy installing a roof on your house? It’s the same answer for a financial advisor. There has been a ton of emphasis in this thread on if the financial advisor can help you beat the market. That is one point of...
  11. General Investing and Economics Discussion - No Politics

I have a plethora of mutual fund options in my 401k in which to invest. I don’t know how to pick the best one for me. Sure, I can try research them, but at the end of the day I’m basically stuck looking at historical returns because I don’t know how to weigh the relative importance of any...
  12. General Investing and Economics Discussion - No Politics

Depends on what the advice is for. If I’m just looking for market performance and expectations, free analysis from a website may be adequate. For advice specific to my personal financial situation and goals, maybe I need a financial advisor.
  13. Reservations for this season

I guess the assumption was that you had them already.
  14. 8 GB vs 12 GB ram for laptop?

I think future-proofing is hopeless. There is seemingly no amount of memory you can add to your laptop that the software guys can’t find a way to waste. My biggest complaint with computers is that today’s hardware is incomparably faster than the hardware of 20 years ago and yet I still have to...
  15. Coaching Change not cheap

When you are expecting to run a deficit of $9M in 2019, does $1M really change anything? The Athletics Initiative is $125M over three years, a million a year is about 2.4% of that. Don’t misunderstand me, we’re better off with the money than without it, but I just don’t think that $1M/yr is...
  16. Coaching Change not cheap

Unless something changed, Gregory rolled off the books last March and Hewitt comes off this March. Between the two of them the annual payment was about $1M. It’s good to have them off the books, but it’s hardly a game changer.
  17. Coaching Change not cheap

Easy! It’s the Difference in the average daily calories consumed at Waffle House between the prior staff and the current staff.
  18. Coaching Change not cheap

Agree. If the only change was CPJ switched the offense to what he had in Hawaii, then we’d have an experiment. Or if the only change was the continued increased funding for recruiting that was already underway, then we’d have an experiment. With the offense change, the complete turnover in...
  19. Coaching Change not cheap

Might not be allowed under NCAA rules. Not sure though. NCAA rules being what they are, even giving a kid a ride home can be a violation under some cirsinstances.
  20. Coaching Change not cheap

Remember CPJ’s comments from a couple years ago about financial commitment? This is a bit of what it looks like. In his retirement presser he noted that TS seemed to understand that and that it’d be a few years before the effects could really be felt, and alluded that that was a factor in his...
