Paul Johnson reveals starting lineup for Georgia Tech

Yeah, Juanyeh sounds like the next great GT WR ... I hate to take someone like that from the defense, but if we have others who can make plays back there, how many guys do we have who have that size as well as the dynamic ability of a KR as well as the sure-handedness of a PR??? That's a Bay...

Ladies and Gentlemen, it's game week!!!!!!

Last night I dreamed we beat UGA. I was attending the game in the middle of their fans (I was wearing a gray GT shirt - was I a little bit of a chicken in my own dream??). They were a raucous crowd, but we scored on the opening drive and they were quiet and dejected ever since. We beat them...

    CPJ names kick returners

Great call @Dustman. I think someone mentioned that possibility over on that other thread too. This definitely makes that the most likely possibility.

Freshman Austin Smith to play, says CPJ...

Yeah, when I heard the CPJ Q&A where these quotes came from, it didn't sound like he was saying Smith was going to play. It sounded like he was just saying he had good ability for the position and needed some time to get better, get acclimated to the system and CFB in general. I'm not sure Ken...

    Points Per Game

I will hypothesize that a big part of the dropoff of our offensive scoring the last 3 seasons is Brent Venables. We used to score a lot of points against Clemson and lately we've struggled to score twice.

What are your measures for success with the new defense?

The question is whether those stats do an adequate job of accounting for the different leagues/levels. Will this translate to that kind of ranking when playing a much higher level of competition, though with a higher level of talent to compete with?

What are your measures for success with the new defense?

Great explanation, thanks! 1. I wonder how they define "garbage time". 2. When you say "they combine these stats into ... F+", who is "they"? 3. So, are you saying that F+ is the most comprehensive of all (implying that's what we should look at if we had to choose one)? When I think about...

What are your measures for success with the new defense?

Just realized my last statement was dumb. There's only 7 teams in the Coastal, so being top half is being top 3. I guess I would be satisfied being in the top 4 of the coastal this year in defense but would like to see us as top 2 in the coastal long term.

What are your measures for success with the new defense?

Someone (@ilovetheoption , @Longestday , @AE 87 , @slugboy , @alentrekin , Bueller?) help me understand DFEI and/or S&P. I like ppd, but the "opponent adjusted" part of those stats make me think they could be the best measure. Are they the best measure, and if so, why - how do they accomplish...

What are your measures for success with the new defense?

People are putting sacks, QB hurries, turnovers and such as measurements. One I haven't seen in this thread is run defense. The most important stat historically for a unit (offense or defense) is running the ball. If you can run the ball and stop the other team from running the ball, you...

Offense and defense ACC coastal division common opponent stats

I think YPP can help tell the story some too, let's say if your special teams and offense were terrible and always giving the other team the shortest field in the league. Your ypp could still be pretty good but your ppd would suffer. But, I definitely see the point you and the other poster...

What are your measures for success with the new defense?

There's a point there. But, there's also a counter-point that little differences in those metrics can signify big differences in the scoreboard and record.

What are your measures for success with the new defense?

Sounds like a great policy. We should probably not be trying to form any real opinions on the defense until around that time as well. And, even then, it would be too soon for any conclusions. I hope we're dominant from the first snap this season, but I'm not going to make any declarations if...

What are your measures for success with the new defense?

To me, it's not about hitting a number but about hitting a ranking. If we get 100 sacks but everybody else gets 120 then we're still losing. This is a competition against opponents not just a game against yourself, like solitaire or something. Maybe some new offensive idea or some new rule or...
