    ESPN Interview with CPJ

No one is in position to knock down a throw to the right. The right side cb is covering the WR. The better point is if that ball gets to QS faster, it’s a td. Another indicator of TM’s arm/mechanics.

    ESPN Interview with CPJ

Some people think you don’t need intermediate passing or it doesn’t exist in our playbook. I’d argue it’s a necessity to make this offense work and keep the safeties honest. It’s a struggle with TM so far. I hope it gets better. It’s the most concerning part of the game for me.

    ESPN Interview with CPJ

Don’t forget that that no one should run that coverage(I’m assuming it’s 4) against us, there is no need. Maybe they worried about a scramble...idk. Have no idea why the db was so far behind the receiver. It’s not 3rd and 25. If I was a Tennessee fan I’d be livid. But it was the first game and...

The pass to searcy at :47. He lobbed it over the top and the safety was already running that direction. Zip it to the right and the safety has a harder angle and QS can tuck and burst sooner.

That Tennessee play is reassuring, but I still just don’t think he has the arm strength to make that play reasonably effective. I hope he works on it. We need that play.

    ESPN Interview with CPJ

Help me out here. A bullet to the right isn’t a td? The safety was able to make the tackle purely because it was over the top. On a side note - that safety is ridiculously fast. Who is that? Searcy is quick and he caught him.

    ESPN Interview with CPJ

Yeah - from watching that, I was like wait the first play is the pass I’m looking for. That was the best pass I’ve seen from him. It was almost a pick, but it was his best pass I’ve seen. I don’t know how often he can do that. I’m guessing that was cover 4 and it was a crappy coverage to run...

    ESPN Interview with CPJ

What’s the play at 2:08 here? 1:40 is a shallow post, which is another route TM can’t complete. Great argument from Napoleon dynamite. Anyone who can throw a football with decent accuracy 35 yards would make that pass. A fair number of adult men can do that.

    ESPN Interview with CPJ

Where did I change my argument? I said show me a 20+ yard dot. I haven’t seen it. I’ve seen lobs and nothing more. (By dot I mean a pass in a tight window).

    ESPN Interview with CPJ

What I’m saying is that if we get to 3 and 10, it’s pretty much an automatic punt with TM. I love the kid and think he’s a good player. But this is a serious deficit. If the running game remains effective, we’ll still win games. But we cannot have anything like 2014 with him. We’ll never convert...

    ESPN Interview with CPJ

He can’t make intermediate throws into single coverage. That is certainly a play we used to run out of play action. We can no longer do it. Streak routes aren’t sufficient as the only passing attack. Drop the safeties into the box and have corners give 10 yards of cushion. We won’t make any...

    ESPN Interview with CPJ

This does not help your argument. I can make that pass. Total coverage bust. We need a qb that can hit a 15-25 yard curl. We don’t have that. If we had another Bebe or Calvin the deep pass would be sufficient, but our receivers aren’t athletic enough to make that our only passing attack.

    ESPN Interview with CPJ

Check 1:40 in this video. TM cannot make that pass and it isn’t THAT difficult of a pass to make. It’s also a necessary one on 3rd and long. Our passing game needs to be more than deep lobs. You need medium passing too. That’s why 2014 was unstoppable. We could convert 3rd and long. We can’t...

Actually quite often in 2014. Most passes to smelter on 3rd down.

    ESPN Interview with CPJ

My point here is if the other team plays cover one he will have trouble completing any passes. The deep safety will pick or break up any of these. Cover one still allows a lot of help in the run game.

    ESPN Interview with CPJ

Searcy’s catch was a lob. If you look at how open he was, that cab had fantastic closing speed. If TM had zipped it to the right he would have had a td.
  17. Frenchise

    ESPN Interview with CPJ

That’s a good pass. That being said...that’s busted coverage. No one overtop so he can just lob it. I’m saying an example where he got something in a tight window at 20+ yards. He simply doesn’t have the zip for my eyes. I’d love to be wrong.

    ESPN Interview with CPJ

Show me a video of a 20+ yard dot and I may reconsider. I saw too many lollipops last year to be confident in his passing. His completion percentage indicates that.

    ESPN Interview with CPJ

My biggest problem with taquon is that he doesn’t have the arm strength to make 20+ yard throws. CBs can react and move in time to breakup the pass. We cannnot effectively pass with taquon unless there is a total coverage bust. Maybe he can work on getting bit more zip. Idk.
