I really hope he gets the spot. I really wanted to see what he was going to be able to do bringing maybe the best arm we’ve had to the flexbone. I think his skill set will transfer well to most offenses. He also seems like he’ll be a good leader and representative.
I think this ATL idea will resonate with players. I have always wanted GT to use Atlanta as a stronger recruiting tool.
I will say it’s kind of funny that we’re replacing a coach who was said to be “gimmicky” with one who actually is gimmicky. If it works though, I’m all for it.
Woody’s defense was very successful at App State and fun to watch. It was easy to get excited about. I’m looking for reason to be similarly excited about these new coordinators.
And I don’t think they’re wrong to do so. At any big university you can get a great education and preparation for future after football, but at GT there is no choice but to get a great, rigorous education, and in a very narrow STEM based curriculum. I think there are certain players for whom...
I think we have done this, but on a limited budget which limits our geographic reach. We’ve gotten some hard-working good players, but not many great players who want a chance at the NFL, but more likely a fall back plan. Not to mention there is a wide variety of fall back plans that might...
I really hope all of these great recruiters are able to help GT win. However, recruiting well at the University of Florida, which has never had much trouble recruiting, doesn’t impress me. We do need to do better recruiting, but we’re a long way from being able to out recruit our competition...
I’d love to see CPJ in the national media. Great way to destroy the narrative the Atlanta media created about his personality, while at the same time getting a gig all those “B-level” radio personalities would kill to get.
The rumors seem to be that we’re brining in most of the Temple staff along with Choice. I guess we’ll get a preview of how they’ll coach vs Cutcliff in the bowl game.
Someone who had won as a head coach at a level that was higher than other coaches at the same school. I was excited to see Lucas Johnson in the CPJ offense with a 2nd year CNW defense. I realize that he left on his own, but if GT was going to throw support behind a coach, I think we might have...
I didn’t say we always lit it up against great defenses. Just that our struggles against great defenses were not unique, and sometimes we did quite well.
You can call my used car salesman label “BS”, but clearly we agree that Collins is more of a salesman than CPJ. I would love to have a guy like that as a recruiting coordinator, but I prefer a Head Coach who is known for coaching rather than selling. Given that our coach showed himself to the...
Spoiler alert: It’s difficult to score on great defenses with any offense. CPJ’s offense did score on all sorts of defenses and often out scored a lot of traditional offenses against teams who were stopping everyone else. If we had a DEFENSE some of those years (2009 and 2014) the offense was...
His referring to GT has his “dream job” is refreshing on the surface, but his used car salesman personality makes me wonder if he means that. Some of you might not have liked what CPJ had to say some of the time, but you always knew he meant every word. I liked having an old-school X and O...
I guess I’d take Collins over Wiz, but honestly neither of them seem like a great hire to me. Maybe if they make some great assistant hires I’d be a little less pessimistic, but assistants come and go; especially good ones. I’d rather have the guy we just lost, but if GT isn’t going to support...
