  1. My Issues With Our Coaching

I have mixed feelings about Ted Roof. I have always liked him and like all he brings to Tech. On the other hand, his defenses are totally orthodox. We don't have the talent to be all that effective unless we take more risks and try to use some creativity. I wonder what his defenses looked...
  2. Two no doubt amateurish ideas on our passing game

    1) Seems like I have read that we have recruited some fast receivers in recent years. I assume our starters are there because they run block pretty well, know their assignments, and are better all around. But if it is third and seven and the other team is expecting a pass anyway, why not trot...
  3. What if this happens...

Your guesses line up with mine for the most part. One wild card is how will be play on the road? It seemed to me we played noticably worse on the road last year. Slower, more tentative, less fire. If we can play up to our capability on the road, we might steal one more win from VT or UNC...
  4. Execution

I think cheese's idea here is the best guess I've read as to why this seems to happen against Clem and last year, Notre Dame. I think speed is the biggest part of it, that is, playing against defensive players who are faster by far than any they see in practice.
  5. Exercise for Miami prep

Fight, I think the Miami/Clemson thing is maybe the one which most stands out to me. That is probably the best example. Maybe this week we do it again, but in reverse order.
  6. Exercise for Miami prep

I know we have had times where we stunk to high heaven in a game then played sharp and looked like a totally different team the next game. But I can't think of an example. Can any of y'all remember examples?
  7. Replay Study: GT Offense vs Clemson

This is just maddening. Often Boomer's dissection tells me things I didn't see, but in this case, I saw a whole lot of what he describes when watching live. Clemson players who were not supposed to be blocked because they shouldn't have been able to make a play. But Clemson's defensive...
  8. So who was worst?

Didn't Duke lose their first game to podunk? Who know how good anybody is week to week.? The lesson is in today's football, you can never take the week off.
  9. Our Offense

I am about ready to quit thinking about this stinkin' turd of a game, but think about this: What would it have looked like if the teams swapped wide receivers? My perception was neither team hurt the other with their running game, or at least not much. When they needed to convert, they just...
  10. Clemson going forward

I don't know what was more depressing, last night's game or the realization that I have no idea how we will ever beat Clemson any time soon. It has been years since I saw a team on our schedule which I automatically wrote in an L, but that will be the case now. They send umpteen players to...
  11. Our Offense

I thought about this some time in the first half when it was apparent we had next to nothing that we could run against them. But the truth is it wouldn't have mattered what kind of offense we ran last night. We would have been overwhelmed by much bigger and faster players.
  12. Gameday !!!!

Clyde, I like the way your post begins. Yes, this is 2016, not 2015. We are underdogs according to the betting lines, but the lines are based on last year. There is a new set of players for both teams. No one knows what will happen tonight.
  13. Class of 2015

It seems to me a fairly frequent occurrence that after a little time, our recruiting classes turn out to be considerably better than they looked on signing day. Not saying anyone poo-poohed the 2015 class.
  14. More of this please!!!!

On the play to start the game, Stewart got a "get in the way block" on someone. Barely touched his man, but it was enough to keep him out of the play and spring the touchdown.
  15. More of this please!!!!

The million dollar question to me is what is different this year? We have had many instances where when JT gets to the edge, there is a manageable number of defenders to fake or block and we get a nice gain out of it. Last year we could hardly ever pull that off. Last year, over and over...
  16. Heart vs Head

Fred, I have struggled with the UGA record scenario, and my version looks pretty much like yours. The ultimate satisfaction level would increase if they were headed to the SEC championship game with a terrific record and we won. Let them feel the bittersweetness of playing for their...
  17. Klimpsun - Welcome back

Are they returning their middle linebacker? Did they lose any of those monster sized defensive linemen? My fuzzy memory says that both Notre Dame and Clem had safety sized middle linebackers similar to the one yesterday. We could not get in front of him. He stuffed the middle one play and...
  18. Vandy Postgame

Two other things. How in the world did we ever sign Adams? DTs that size never sign with us. It's easy to take Justin for granted, but he is really playing some ball. With the improved protection his passing ability is much better this year. He's playing the TO point guard, he dishes...
  19. Vandy Postgame

Pass protection still good, for the most part. Awesome call to start the game. PJ at his best. I think Clinton Lynch is our second best A back. He is shifty, has some speed, and is hard to bring down. Adams came up big on what might have been the play of the game. His bulk and strength...
