True, hopefully adequate NIL funding has been secured without the OBC support. My impression is it hasn't. Of course, I might be associating with the OBC, but my clique refers to others as the OBC. There might be a couple of competing OBCs and they may all suck. J might need to do a team...
NIL $ negotiations necessitate involving the donors. Hard to negotiate a contract with a coach who's expecting NIL support when you're keeping the $$$ guys at arm's length. Of course, you'd hope the NIL commitment isn't candidate dependent, but with our guys, it is.
There's still a chance that...
I'll stand by my assessment of the situation. The bone I'll throw is that I've stated many a time that I think any average P5 coach, including Key, would've won 7 this year (assuming the same roster) had we made a coaching change at the end of last year. I'm still pissed off that we didn't...
It's also a contradiction of his earlier tweet.
First tweet: deal in place, likely Fritz

Tulane beat: we saw him around campus all day every day for the last week, what'd you do, interview him over skype?
Just to clear the air on this a little: TStan made that hire in an absolute vacuum without anything resembling a formalized process and that's why he got fired. He should've been fired years ago, but water under the bridge. The old boys club wasn't consulted at all last time.
Here's a thought: are we not being clear during the interview process and setting salary expectations is being misconstrued as final salary negotiations? That seems like such a GT thing to do.
He's so talented that you adjust your offense to get him more touches, but his skill set is as a change of pace back. You end up forcing the ball to him in situations where he has negative plays that kill drives. Yes, you get the occasional explosive plays, but that's not how games are won if...
If the rumors of financial issues affecting the hire are true, then the money pledged for the edge renovation would be better used to pay off the debt and buy down operational costs.
At least you have a chance of him retiring rather than being bought out. Then we can hire an up and coming coach with recruiting chops.
It's a joke guys, calm down.
