From what I have read, Roof was likely a stop gap measure as DC at Oklahoma. He was never really meant to be there long term. Venables is going to bring in one of his protégé's now.
Next year will be different. They play UMass the week before us. Normally they have a cupcake before our game. This year they played 3 really tough games in a row right before they played us.
Never said he was a weak coach. I do think he has had a good series of fortunate events happen that have gotten him to where is is today. More fortunate events then most coaches get. Ill leave it at that. I also do not consider being lucky to be a bad thing. I'm not sure why people here do.
I figured someone would give him a shot soon. He was a pretty good DC for 4 straight years in the SEC under offensive minded coaches. This could work out well for them. Or it could go miserably bad. It will be pretty interesting to watch.
I wouldn't call it cutting anyone a break as much as trying to get his team in the best possible position to win against Alabama. You guys are acting like this is the first time a coach has done this. It's a fairly normal strategy to rest guys in games you are likely to win so that you are...
They weren't 100% obviously but three of UGAs top 4 receivers in the Alabama game (including Bowers, and McConkey) didn't even suit up against us. Surely you know the reason for that don't you? I wouldn't say they were just barely trying to win against us. They were trying to safely win against...
Yes, ive been trolling on this site for well over 10 years now. God forbid someone have a different opinion. Of UGAs top 5 receivers, one played against us. They also had a starting OL out and multiple defensive players out. Nearly all of these guys magically got healthy a week later...
The collective fanbase. Only losing to UGA by 8 looks great on paper but im not sure we should convince ourselves that it means we are a significantly better team than Ole Miss or Tennessee who got the UGA full court press.
No real agenda. I just don't think Key walks on water like others here do. In reality he is probably an average coach at best who is really lucky to have gotten a job at this level. As for his assets, other than luck, probably his ability to instill toughness, the guys do respond pretty well to...
Not really. Their game this year wasn't really competitive at all. UGA is in a different league than they are. Most years of the 12 team playoff the 5 seed is going to be the second best SEC or Big 10 team. That team is usually going to blow out the 12 seed whether it is a G5 team or the 5th or...
You won't avoid this by only having P5 schools. UGA would have played Ole Miss this year, who they already beat by 35. The vast majority of P5 teams are going to get blown out, even in their in their best years if they take on the elite programs. In reality we need a subdivision with about 10-15...
Corporations also have plenty of mission statements and guidelines that supposedly shape the culture of their companies and keep them on ethical footing. As does the US Government. Do you trust them? In your opinion are they being honest all of the time and doing the best they can do?
In...
We can agree to disagree on this. Personally I think a random group of people, with their own biases and agendas making decisions with no real criteria and no real transparency, and no real accountability is a pretty poor way to do anything.
I honestly don't think so. Top tier players would start opting out of the playoffs themselves. Risking generational wealth for 1-2 games is one thing. Risking it for 5 games is quite another.
I wonder why we never heard about avoiding blowouts after Clemson beat Ohio State by 31 points or LSU beat Oklahoma by 35. Blowouts happen in college football. There is no real way to avoid them. Trying to avoid them is code for keeping the teams out that don't get as many TV viewers.
