He might be a 'big picture guy'. Nothing wrong with that as long as you have really good detail-oriented people who you can trust. A contract does not define the relationship, it defines the divorce.
(Full disclosure: I would put myself in the 'big picture' category in some way...not always a...
I've said it elsewhere...I'm simply not on the "Fire TStan" bandwagon. His job is much more than winning football, but it does include winning football.
I think his problem (other than the date of the Jan 1 on the contract) is that he logically values Football as a single part of the overall...
That's so sad to hear. I didn't realize. Wow. What a state of affairs. Maybe we should outlaw college non-club sports and get back to focusing on education in our, you know, educational institutions.
Like I said in my caveat...I'm just a fan. He feels like a very 'meh' hire to me and I'd hate to eat $MMs of debt to get him as the outcome. So let me change my position slightly "Ogeron + $12MM Debt == CGC" :)
He's not wrong...getting more money to attract better coaches and to recruit more effectively are required attributes to winning. But....he has to give us a reason to believe. You don't go into a financing round saying:
"We can do this! Just give us another 5 Mil and you'll see. You'll See...
Yeah. Unlike tort law, which is the wild west if you can get a jury trial. I say GT sues him for something in civil court...maybe Civil Theft or Fraud and get it to a jury in a very GT friendly court! Or at the very least a Fashion Court! ;)
Here's my particular order. Each +/- means better/worse than CGC. And am NOT any type of expert on this stuff...just dreaming. :)
Jamey Caldwell

Winner. Agile offensive scheme that puts mid-tier players in position to win. Can he recruit?
Deion Sanders

Winner. Doesn't coddle, but...
I'd also love to hear Roddy talk about his absolute glowing and 100% full endorsement for CGC in that article and what he said in the podcast. I mean, did something change? Or did he get bamboozled by the sales pitch and forget to look at the car's Autofax?
If he were just a fan I wouldn't...
That's my thinking too. But even at 3-3 if the team looks somewhat respectable then we might see the admin sit pat (although the end of the schedule post the Frenchmen looks pretty bad.) That's what might be a problem with waiting...we get false hope that just extends the pain. He's going to...
So...just speculating here since I'm certainly not expecting it...but let's say we go into the Bye Week 4 - 2 with convincing wins over UCF, Pitt & Duke. What happens then?
I was just thinking that it is amazing that...at least as far as I've seen...we haven't had any of the Temple fans who told us we'd be sorry here reminding us of that fact.
So is it meddling or whatever they call it if a rich booster calls this guy and say "Hey, dude. I'll make it worth your while to wait for us" ? Not that I know anyone that rich but a guy can dream, right?
Thanks for the perspective. Everyone is just super frustrated at what appears to us stadium sitters to be a lack of action. But you are right. We can and will do better. And piling on really only makes us feel....better? But I'm as guilty as any the last couple of days and it's hard to be white...
He said what most would say in that situation, colored of course with his personal style. "We didn't execute last Saturday. We looked at it on Sunday. Made adjustments. Moved on. Expect to play well against a good opponent." I'm not a fan of the guy at all, but let's get real...what would we...
