The new AD will be in a pickle if Key keeps winning and gets us to bowl-game. If he keeps him and we are bad next year it will be 'what an idiot'! If he brings in his coach and we don't get to a bowl game next year it will be 'what an idiot!' I would say that's why they make the big-bucks, but...
I agree, but I think it is easy to mis-read 'oversees every detail' to be 'micro-manages'.
By 'oversees every detail' I assume you mean "coaches who are detail-oriented in expectations but also delegate well...and hold people accountable for outcomes."
I feel that CGC thought he was doing...
I'm the 'crazy guy', and again I say that I know that no coach will go without an agent. My gosh, is hyperbole so difficult to recognize these days? Do I hate agents...yes. They are parasites that appear to me to work for their own benefit more than the player's (see Freddie Freeman.) But the...
You know what, never mind. Most of the college football world thinks that what WF does is a unique system designed to do something different than the factories due to their inherent recruiting disadvantages. But you are probably right and they are probably wrong.
Please stop being so obtuse! In the context of this conversation WF is definitely a 'scheme' offense. You can play semantics all you want, but with regards to what the actual conversation we are engaged in...related to some arguing that we need a scheme offense to be highly successful....WF...
If I get time I'm going to go back to see how much time they left. I know that in one possession alone it was something like 70 seconds (after an injury we snapped the ball right after the play clock started...)
I just wanted to take a moment and give a shout-out to Ace Eley.
The dude just doesn't get the props that match his impact on this team.
He has 35 solo tackles, 30 assists and 3.5 sacks through six games. He also has 3 Fumbles Forced. What an impact and incredible story.
Thank you Ace for...
After reading some of the post-game comments by our recruiting targets, it seems that Key's authentic style is really resonating with potential Tech players. If he can get us to a bowl game I'd be very interested in seeing GT HC Key.
We were down three OL starters by the end of the game. Having an OL with three second string guys on it helps explain the sudden Duke great defensive line play. Regardless of the play calls (which were too conservative by my couch-coaching opinion), their interior DL just started making plays.
Somewhere in the midst of the celebration-impaired sleep I was wondering if anyone does a Per-Referee scoring like they have for players? I guess no one would pay for it, but it would sure be nice to call out the terrible referees and at least get third-party verification/vindication of BS calls...
Please, please, please learn to run the clock down to 5 seconds when you are up by 14 with > 10 minutes.
Other than that, GREAT GAME! Way to fight and win!
I agree and my post above saying "I don't know what happened" was just that. He seemed to be really talented but over time seemed to see less of the field than I was expecting. I agree he is a great representation of the school and I'm glad he came to the Flats. I just wish he'd had a better HC...
I get that. Contracts are just pre-nups to agree on the terms of the divorce ahead of time. But I'm really surprised that Key can command anything other than the very lowest level of P5 HC guarantees. If he doesn't get the GT HC job, he is not getting any other P5 HC job for a least another...
