I thought Claude’s effort was noticeable and significant. He does not have the hops or size that the FSU guys did but he fought like heck and made a couple of great saves on balls going out of bounds.
They did and they were not in serious consideration for the CFP. However 45-9 screams loudly the ACC has not been a good football conference on the whole the past decade.
ND seems to be slipping as well. When their very successful HC leaves to go to LSU that also screams there are issues...
Of course you know the ESPN and Fox Executives would laugh anyone who suggested giving up Conference Championship Games out of their buildings. As we all agree money rules and there is simply too much money involved to go to an 8 team playoff with no Conference Championship Games.
Fairness is...
They better win 10 games every year to be in the Top 10. Of course with 5 ACC games they have nearly 5 auto wins. They are 45-9 vs the ACC since 2014 when they partially joined the ACC.
As an aside that does strengthen the narrative the ACC is a weak football conference.
Tulane, Boise State, Miami Ohio, Liberty and Troy 100% agree with you. Of course no one else on the planet thinks this is a reasonable setup! :ROFLMAO: 🏆
Finishing tied for 4th in the ACC was great considering where we have been.
Finishing 4th gets you the Birmingham Bowl except the Gasparilla didn’t want the same ACC team back 2 years in a row. Compared to the prior 4 years it was great.
With huge Conferences going forward anything below top...
Point being is several on thi board claim the SEC is simply hype and the ACC is their equal. We were in the same spot as Ole Miss, LSU and Missouri. Ole Miss handled us fairly easily. We battled them hard but it was clear who was a significantly better team.
Conference records and...
playing 7 of 13 possible teams in conference makes the Conference standings not terribly meaningful unless the team gets to the championship game.
5-3 in Conference. 1-3 in non conference with zero wins against FBS teams. Kind of supports the perception the ACC is a weak foitball conference.
As they say you play to win the games. NCATT games are very hard to win. Winning 6 in a row, especially as they have not been a top seed all that often is even more impressive. They likely are a 1 or 2 seed this year.
It will be interesting to see how Staley continues at USC East. They are on the verge of a heck of a run and the competition is much tougher now. I doubt there will ever be a run like Geno had at UCONN’s peak.
Ok, you seemed to be downplaying UCONN's men's team in your earlier posts. Glad we agree. They don't have the history of UCLA or UK but have been the far better overall team as far as NDs go the past 30 years. Heck Indiana has been nowhere near them the past 30 years. Their only true peers...
UCONN Men’s team is tied for 4th with Duke and Indiana with 5 NCAA Championships. Only behind UCLA, Kentucky and UNC. That is Blue Blood status. Not as long a history but the past 30 years they have the most titles for each men and women.
The way things have been going it's hard to have faith we will win. On the other hand this season has been anything but predictable. We could win a close game or we could get blown out. Hope we win a road conference game!
During Clemson’s run of making the CFP they were a preseason top team for several years. They totally dominated the ACC. There was no second team to be rated top 10. Miami was once but they were a pretender and lost 5 or 6 games that year.
Do you really think last year the ACC had a second...
