Looks like the one difference is Pitt lost to Missouri (NET 158) at home and USC-E beat Missouri both at home and away. Not much difference. USC-E seemed significantly overseeded. They look like a bubble team. Pit also looks like a bubble team. I would have put Pitt in over UVA in the ACC.
UVA had no Quad 3 or 4 losses. Pitt had 2 and Wake had 1. Does that justify it? Not by it's self. Pit had a very bad OOC schedule. Some of that was bad luck in 3 of the P6 teams they played ended up as last place Conference teams. That mattered as well as they lost to Missouri 0-18 in...
All true. It was clear UNC was not going to his 3s in the 2nd half like they did in the first half. No one keeps a 61% from three at a very high volume.
I was yelling at the TV for Davis to drive to the basket in the 1st half and all the second half. Most of his drives resulted in foul shots...
Dude, if you have read the posts many have clearly explained the issue. It is not the media’s bias that hurts the ACC.
The “NET System” is flawed and the ACC hurts itself badly with having 20 conference games.
As ESPNJ pointed out the OOC games Nov-Dec establish teams NET rankings. Once...
That is the major problem with the NER/Quad system. There is little chance to improve significantly in Conference play.
Going back to your examples you could say Clemson at 11-9 in conference was marginal but their non conference wins were a major factor for them. Beating Alabama at Alabama...
Alabama played a great game. Very hard to hold Davis down as they did. He never got open 3 point looks. Carolina clearly had their chances to win. Withers went brain dead on both ends of the court in the last 2 minutes and that cost Carolina the game.
Very good basketball game by two very...
Clemson was a NCAAT lock because of their OOC success. NET basically sets the conferences before conference play begins. Clemson was nothing special in ACC play. Clemson lost 3 of it's last 4 conference games to ND, Wake and BC, not impressive but they were considered a lock all season based...
Bama played solid defense on Davis. UNC took out Cadeau and Trimble as they needed some size to defend Nelson. That didn’t really work. Withers put up a terrible 3 with UNC up 2. Then a stupid foul on Nelson who made the basket and FT. That changed the game.
I suspect the past 5 or so years the numbers are a bit different in the 4-13 to 6-11 range.

While true it changes nothing about what I said. The ACC teams won 7games they were thought to be the better team, won 2 they were thought to be the worse team and lost one they were thought to be an equal team.
Teams are seeded for a reason. As I said there are always going to be upsets in...
There are always upsets in the first 2 rounds. UNC as a 1 seed should not lose to a 16 or 9 seed. That would be a huge upset. Duke as a 4 seed beat 13 and 12 seed. Losing to either would be a huge upset.
Clemson as a 6 seed beat an 11 seed. Good win as this is where upsets start regularly...
There is no ACC mockery of the selection. ACC teams have won the 6 games they were the better seed. They one 2 games where they were the worse seed. They lost one game they were an equal seed.
That is spot on selection and seeding.
Red you know more about basketball ongoings than about any of us on this board. I looked at all the Big 12 teams in the Tournament and their OOC schedules looked very similar to most ACC teams OOC schedules except they had 2 more OOC games each. TCU and Texas Tech seemed to fit what you said...
USC East had a weak OOC schedule. Not as bad as Pitt’s. Some of Pitt’s was simply bad luck as Missouri, WVA and Oregon State all turned out to be last place finishers in their Conferences. No way to predict that when scheduling the games.
USC East seems seeded too high for sure. Miss St...
Seedings would "expect" UNC and Duke to make the Sweet 16. They would have had to have been upset not to get there. UNC bead a 16 & 9 seed to get there. They "should" win those games as a 1 seed. D
Duke as a 4 seed beat a 12 and 13 seed. Again as a 4 seed they "should" win those games...
It’s not better so why should they get in without a better resume. Losing to Missouri is one of the 3 worst possible P6 losses. That is a dagger for a resume. Pitt is likely in beating Missouri. They had their chance and blew it.
