For the season we are up in rebounding over our opponents 605 to 537 with advantage on both offensive and defensive rebounds. Last night was atypical. I would love to get a legit 5 to move Ndongo over to 4 as much as anyone but it isn't our core issue right now.
I agree that the PG is the key to the system CDS wants to run. Nait's numbers last night were good but he didn't stress the ND defense - certainly not like Burton got downhill routinely and stressed our D. He often will get around the high ball screen and stop to see what he can do instead of...
CDS talked about that in his last show - they practice zone but have not run it in a game yet. He talked about BC but said he was worried about their shooters. I expect he thought the same last night. I too would like to see us have that in our arsenal when teams get going downhill like ND...
I didn't see all the interaction you mentioned but it doesn't surprise me. You can't argue that CDS didn't deserve a T as he was way out of the coaching box and barking pretty hard. But I expect Ayers called it to try and protect his young official. If that had been a veteran official I...
FWIW I am not worried about Ndongo at this point. He doesn’t have the size to play the 5 at the NBA level and doesn’t yet have the range to play the 4. I don’t think he is going that route yet
What I saw was the defender wrapping his arm around Kelly’s neck and then the hook and hold. That is what PO’d me. Now I agree Kelly oversold his case. He had the call. And the BC guy was asking for a call
I would agree if the decision was the foul was the result of the hook and hold but I thought it was pretty obvious it was foul and then hook and hold. Did you see it differently?
That was a walk no doubt about it
I have never heard of a rule that eliminates a prior call for a later call. I could see both being called as the hook and hole being after the play. But I can’t see how the hook and hold would eliminate the foul that was called beforehand.
CDS made over $100 M in the league. Don’t think he needs our help 😎
I was glad to see him exert a little emotion. we would be better if he showed more of it. Especially given that consistent emotion and intensity is a huge issue for this team. I am not sure stoicism is the best way
Officiating in the Clemson UNC game reminds me of the old big east especially in the post area. They’re letting a lot of body pushing in general physicality got that I didn’t think they were supposed to anymore. Both ways to be clear
I think the big difference is going to be that BC does not pressure the ball the way FSU did. FSU kept us out of really running an offense by that ball pressure mostly in the half court. If we can run an offense we’ll do a lot better against BC
Our shooting wasn’t good to say the least. But I put this on our guards who got pushed out by FSU pressure. We were setting up our offense almost at half court especially in the first half. We have to be able to initiate an offense in order to be able to beat ACC teams and we couldn’t do it today
I would point out there is a little bit of chicken/egg in CDS's approach to local NIL opportunities. This isn't or rather shouldn't be a once we get to winning scenario but a tool CDS uses now - obviously at a reduced rate versus Lethal Weapon 3 - to get the recruits he needs to get to winning.
While we talk about our lack of structured offensive sets, Wake takes it to another level. I watched most of the second half and they didn't do anything except put the ball in the PGs hands and tell everyone else to get out of the way. Very few picks, no real off ball motion - just find a spot...
