Those were my two picks with the Mississippi game being the worst. I had been to every Peach Bowl and almost all of them were miserable weather. FSU vs LSU, UNC vs Arizona State, and a few others. I quit going after the last Tech loss.
I seem to remember several years ago a very good Duke guard who got schooled regularly by a Tech guard. Think there are several videos of this. But that doesn’t mean the Duke guard wasn’t good.
Conversation is way too in the weeds for me. I just scroll looking for pictures or pithy put downs. Because Lord knows we are no where close to finding out what is actually going to happen.
And we are kind of back to a question we have batted around for years. What is the purpose of college athletics? If it’s just money, and I’m not saying it is, that is not sustainable, in my opinion. If it’s to undergird in some way the academic purpose of an institution, that fits more with...
The famous Pontius Pilate question, “What is truth?” Is it an ontological question, an existential question, or is it just an unwillingness to stake a claim?
I’m not asking, just pontificating.

That’s helpful but let me press you a little further. I would have to check historical records so please don’t side track on specifics if I am off on specifics 😊 but let’s say Oklahoma was a national power for almost five decades, even rivaling Notre Dame in some of Notre Dame’s glory years...
You are certainly correct that conferences wanted Texas regardless of them bullying other schools and not being a conference “team player.”
To a lesser extent Notre Dame would fit that mold. They act superior to all other teams and pretty much have to have their way all the time but every...
One of the questions I have is a little hard to encapsulate succinctly so bear with me.
Tech was once the hottest ticket in town and had a national following. Yes, I’m going way back. We don’t have to go over all the reasons for why this is no longer the case. Media has changed, entertainment...
But I’ve noticed in Tech’s early history most of their jerseys are dark blue. Some of the 1920s teams pose in blue uniforms too.
I also think the early attempts at gold jerseys were more mustard looking which is why I kind of liked the Bud Carson era uniforms. They looked retro to me.
But...
As a youngster I didn’t even notice the occasional mixed metaphor. Seared in my memory were the words spoken in dramatic voice late in the fourth quarter as Tech was leading undefeated and eventual national champion Southern Cal- “Bombshell brewing out west here against Southern California.”...
