From the AJC
"On Friday evening, Damon Stoudamire was an assistant coach with the Boston Celtics who had just arrived in Atlanta for a Saturday night game against the Hawks. That’s when he received a call from a search firm. It was not out of the ordinary."
"Stoudamire was aware that Georgia...
One of the best tournament days ever for UVA. They now have company as a 1-16 loser.
Purdue's last 3 Tourney's are something
First round loss to a 16 seed (FDU).
Sweet Sixteen loss to a 15 seed (St. Peters).
First Round loss to a 13 seed (North Texas)
Maybe should have seen this coming based...
Burns had problems all game defending Kalbrenner and was in constant foul problems.
NC St still doesn't look like a very well coached team. They look more like an AAU team.
Offensively it is pretty much put the ball in Smith's hands and let him create something.
Both Pitt and NC ST will likely...
Agree with all of this. The bolded part is the big piece.
The pool GT can recruit from is smaller than the pool that most of its competitors recruit from. That's just a simple fact and has been the case since post-Stephen Marbury, whose lack of academic interest left a sour taste in some mouths...
The more I dig into Stoudamire's time at Pacific the more impressed I become with what he accomplished there.
He walked into an awful situation.
The previous HC (and one of his assts) were fired by the school for helping players cheat to be eligible. Both would ultimately get show cause...
Academics (both in terms of requirements and major/classes for students who are here).
Coaches are well aware that they cannot recruit all the same prospects they potentially can at many other P5 schools both out of HS and from the portal. I know there have been potential portal transfers who...
I'm cautiously optimistic about this hire.
It was definitely a little out of the box, but also was clearly what Batt wanted.
This is a much more experienced coach than I expected us to go after.
NBA experience, asst experience at 2 different high major type schools.
HC experience at a very...
There is one thing on Hunter that makes him a no on my list.
Part of the reason he left Ga St for Tulane is because Ga St wanted to tie some of his bonus to academic performance because his team had a 2.16 GPA at the time (and going down) and they were worried about APR problems.
He refused to...
Edwards went to UGA for money reasons, pure and simple. You can say AAR had a hand in that, but understand that it was well known in the GA basketball community that Edwards was well compensated to attend UGA for 6 months.
GT is not going to win games by recruiting the Anthony Edwards of the...
I've been mostly off message boards since the beginning of the year (and frankly enjoying life more due to that), but since the season is over thought I would give my thoughts.
I like to wait until an end of a season before discussing it in depth - you need to let all the chapters of the book...
4 star recruits need to be developed just like 3 star or no star recruits.
There have been comments that Collins staff was more focused on 'recruiting stars' than evaluation.
The staff took alot of recruits that were not highly regarded and not highly recruited by P5 schools. We will find out...
It's been a business for a long time, but it has really exploded in the last 10-15 years.
I have become alot less invested in college football and basketball over that time as you could see the bifurcation coming where just a handful of programs are truly competing for championships.
I used to...
McKenzie feels like a pretty good hire to me.
Experience at a high academic P5. Experience in GA.
I like the idea of him being RB and ST coach.
Worked with Faulkner at Arkansas St - so they should be pretty familiar with each other.
I sort of hope Sergio does not end up at GT. 36 snaps in 3 years does not suggest someone that is likely to play much at GT.
Tchio had 200 snaps in 2 years at Clemson and was a non factor this season at GT. In most cases the players who have made the biggest contributions to GT have been the...

Thanks for doing this.
I sort of expect the offense in Key's tenure to be more hard nosed run based. That seems to fit his personality, but I could be 100% wrong.
At the very least I am expecting a pretty balanced offense.
FWIW, I don't think hiring Key (and who he is hiring as assts) is...
If he decides not to go to Liberty and rejoin Chadwell I could see McCall looking at NC ST as well. Not far from home and an offensive coordinator that has worked really well with QB's with skill sets similar to his.
NC St has hired Robert Anae from Syracuse to be its new OC.
Good hire for them. He was at UVA with Armstrong 2 years ago - there are some rumors Armstrong could transfer to NC ST to reunite with Anae.
