  1. NIL in CBB

I saw a little of that thread. Seems like there are at least a few that would like to throw out the Chancellor and bring back the money man. (Which would occur at any school).
  2. CDS staff speculation.

Hobbs would be a good hire. He has alot of experience (in the Tourney) both as an Asst and HC. I wonder if he is being targeted for an assistant spot (would almost certainly have to be for Assoc HC) or for the Special Assistant to the HC spot? He would fit in either. He is 61 yrs old.
  3. Is Georgia basketball talent overrated

FWIW, CBS Sports did look at NBA players a couple of seasons ago. They looked at it by metro area. Their listing was #1 Los Angeles #2 Chicago #3 Philadelphia #4 Dallas #5 Seattle #6 Houston #7 New Jersey #8 Washington DC #9 Indianapolis #10 New York City #11 Atlanta #12 Akron/Canton/Columbus...
  4. Is Georgia basketball talent overrated

So this is a question i've thought about for awhile: Is GA basketball talent overrated? The NCAA site has a great article on where Div 1 players come from. Someone went through the process last year of looking at every Div 1 basketball roster and seeing where every player came from. Atlanta was...
  5. What is a "Blue Blood"?

Kentucky, Kansas, UNC and Duke are all obvious because they have multiple national titles under multiples coaches in multiples generations. I would probably consider UCLA a blue blood, but it is sort of a close call. Indiana was for awhile but I would not consider them one now. UConn is probably...
  6. Coaching Carousel 8 - Teamwork means never taking all the blame yourself

Good roundup of all the ins and outs of coaching hires https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/college-basketball-coaching-changes-2023-texas-penn-state-vcu-and-cal-all-fill-vacancies/
  7. What music are you listening to?

I'm a big Classic rock guy (huge Beatles fan), but 2 bands i've been listening to alot recently are Sammy Rae & The Friends Lake Street Dive
  8. CDS staff speculation.

Cuse, How do you feel about Autry keeping the previous staff intact and who is the candidate for the last spot?
  9. CDS staff speculation.

This is why i'm hoping we might see a hire or two next week.
  10. NIL, Transfers, and Stratospheric Salaries. What Is the Future of GT Football and College Football in General?

It looks like the NCAA is trying to make some subtle changes to the transfer rules - specifically for undergraduate transfers. https://www.si.com/fannation/college/cfb-hq/ncaa-football/college-football-transfer-portal-rule-change-ncaa Basically a player gets 1 'free' transfer, but if you...
  11. Leo Blackburn: suffers knee injury

Wish the best in his recovery.
  12. Bracket Busting

UConn is a heavy favorite to take it all right now. They have looked really good and looked like the best all-around team so far. The combination of strong outside shooting with a dominant big man down low is hard to match. They also play defense at a high level. FAU and SDSU should be a...
  13. NIL, Transfers, and Stratospheric Salaries. What Is the Future of GT Football and College Football in General?

I wish I had a bright idea for that but I don't. The basic issue is that NIL is not being used for what is was created to be used for (not that this should surprise anyone). It isn't really being used for NIL, it is being used for pay-to-play. If you wanted to make an analogy to professional...
  14. Bracket Busting

Just some fun with numbers. There have been 60 games in the Tourney so far this year. 19 resulted in the lower seed winning. 14 resulted in a seed at least 3 spots lower than the opponent winning. (This takes out the 8-9, 4-5 type matchups). Upsets became more frequent, on a percentage basis...
  15. NIL, Transfers, and Stratospheric Salaries. What Is the Future of GT Football and College Football in General?

On the other hand Miami is one of the biggest NIL schools in both football and basketball. On the Miami BB team Nigel Pack has a 2-yr $800K NIL deal and Isiah Wong has a 1-yr $400K plus a car NIL deal. There will be times that it works and times that it doesn't. NIL does move college athletics...
  16. Bracket Busting

    Since 1979.
  17. Bracket Busting

With 8 teams left the breakdown is Big 12 - 2 (Texas 2, Kansas St 3 ) Big East - 2 (UConn 4, Creighton 6) ACC - 1 (Miami 5) West Coast - 1 (Gonzaga 3) Mountain West - (San Diego St 5) Conference USA - 1 (though FAU is moving to the American this summer, 9) No #1 seeds made the Elite Eight...
  18. Coaching Carousel 8 - Teamwork means never taking all the blame yourself

That is definitely still the goal. This past season they made 475 FT to their opponents attempting 493. In ACC games it was 259 made to 288 Opponent attempted. Not quite as pronounced as under K but still a pretty heavy difference.
  19. CDS staff speculation.

FWIW, I do not expect Stoudamire to hire any assistants with GT connections and don't think he really needs to. He needs to hire the 3 best assistants he believes he can hire that will help him win. I will add that Karl McCray (head of the Atlanta Celtics) praised the hire of Stoudamire after...
  20. CDS staff speculation.

Hell no on Dollar. He has a reputation of working hard for the first year or two that he is at a school and then he slacks.
