    Special Ed Conference

BTW, don't let any of your buddies from the SEC talk to you about match ups etc being the determining factor in this season's record. We (the ACC) beat both of the SEC's division champs and their conference champ as a part of the mix.

    Parker Braun All-Bowl Offensive Tackle

Players usually improve the most from year one to year two. Just saying. OL is the single biggest predictor to cfb success. Bodes well.

Well the SEC still has a MAJOR advantage in one important area: putting butts in the seats. As long as that is still in place, it will drive the insanity.

Don't forget some of those Nattys are due to favorable rankings and sports press hype. The year Bammer played LSU for the title, the Natty was just handed to the SEC. That was a joke. I am not trying to say they weren't a good conference, maybe even the best, but they didn't have to earn it like...

Life after Paul Johnson.... hypothetical question

There have only been two sustained periods of offensive excellence during my time as a GT fan (since 1979). First was Ralph Friedgen as OC and the second was PJ as OC. Both systems relied heavily on option concepts. You may have forgotten, we ran a fair amount of TO with li'l Joe at the helm...

OK, I went back through this century just to take a look at where this season of ACC domination fits in terms of history. The following data shows: year, SEC wins, ACC wins, Ties, pct victories for SEC (notice how the data has to be presented from the SEC pov), ave pts scored per contest SEC...

Here are the final AP Rankings for the 2016 season.

Yes. That is the whole point. Thanks. How a conference who went 4-10 against the other conference can be on equal footing with numbers in the top 25 is beyond me. Not only that, but teams in the superior conference, with equal or better records, were left out, while the weaker conference's teams...

I would like to start off by congratulating BAMA and CLEMSON on an amazingly hard fought and entertaining football game. This one had all the elements of any classic game. It was a rematch in which the ACC had lost the year before. The hype surrounding BAMA was heavily leaning towards strong...

    Conference reputation?

It took about 15 seconds after last nights game was over before the hype surrounding Bammer in 2017 got fired up. Un-bee-lievable!

    ACC Bowl Action

It took all of about 15 minutes before ESPN started up the Bammer in 2017 hype train, pre-season #1 already. Blah Blah....

    Off Season Banter

I could see going for 2 way more often, however, game situation has to dictate what you do. For example, there is no wisdom in going for 2 if you have a chance to go up 9 with an XP with a few minutes left in the game.

Well stated. Your comments are pretty much the basis for my stance on this position group. I fully recognize Branch developing in that area of the game. Glanton looks like he could be good too. However, as nice as improving in the pass rush is for us, we need to be able to hold point in the face...

    Taxslayer Wrap-up

I love the rocket toss sweep play as well. Its one great weakness, as has been demonstrated time and time again, is that, if you guess right as a DC, it is one of the easiest plays to blow up. A CB blitz is pretty much guaranteed to defeat it. It is a risky play for the defense, but an amazing...

I hear you and I feel sure Branch is ahead of Adams right now too. However, my main point was, if we are to make substantial progress along the DL next year, it is going to have to be Adams who raises the bar. Adams could provide the anchor that makes everybody better, especially guys like...

    Special Team Playmakers

His speed is pretty evident when you see him on those kick returns. He appears pretty physical for his size too, liking the contact at the end of his runs. Most likely, he is just now back close to 100% health.

    Winning Streak

I have no idea what the actual numbers are with current streaks, but I don't think what you are saying is true. There might be four teams with a 5 game streak, and two teams with a 6 game streak, and that would still make 4 game streaks the seventh longest.

    Candeto it is

I really like having C3TO and TW on staff at the same time. As with any offense, the QB's IQ and knowledge of what you are trying to do is so important. Imagine Jordan getting the majority of the reps this year and having an entire off season to spend with those two in the film room etc. I would...

    Bowl game offensive breakdown

Part of offensive efficiency and execution is catching the effing football. We haven't dropped the ball much this season. UK was the exception. In my mind, that was the only element missing from a prolific bowl game on offense. The plays were right there to be had and the throws were on the money.

    Let the Hype train Begin...

Nothing predicts future seasons very well in CFB, however, there is no greater predictor for success than a talented, physical, and experienced offensive line. It seems to me, we will have that. We will miss Freddie Burden in spirit, but I don't think we will have a let down because of his...
