I don’t think it’s “deeper” or a sign of deficiency. No matter how much we preach consistency and 100% effort / focus, you can’t be 100% every week. We were a little vanilla scheme-wise. We were also a little slower and a little less focused. We overcame it obviously. Now the margin for error...

Or maybe they just don’t think they can stop the run… at all? With the new clock rules, there isn’t a lot of difference between 10 yard runs and 10 yard passes in terms of game clock. I hope we don’t give up a ton of points though… I’m getting kind of excited about the prospect of defense.

They throttled the ND team that went toe to toe with OSU a couple weeks prior. No, there is not transitive property, but yes, they looked like they belonged for a while. If they hadn’t lost to UK, that ACCCG would’ve been huge

Exactly. What the ACC needs far more than FSU and Clemson is for another team to emerge as a contender. That’s been our biggest issue. We’ve been perceived as a one team league. When Clem and FSU stumble, there is a vacuum. That has to change. (I really hope it’s us and not Miami)

Pretty fair assessment. I thought his characterization of defending “vanilla run game inside the tackles” was interesting. He’s obviously focused on Cuse so maybe he meant “vanilla” defensively in terms of eye discipline / gap discipline…but interesting characterization nonetheless

I would really like to be ranked. I know it doesn’t mean much, but it sure would be nice. That said, I think the FSU performance may have given us something more valuable than a ranking. I expect the coaches are getting A LOT of mileage out of it in practice. I hope so. It’s a whole lot...

Well… for a week we’ve wondered if we got a ‘let down” version of a real good FSU team, or if we’re pretty good in our own right, or if FSU may not be all they were cracked up to be…. Looks like the latter. We might still be pretty good, but it’s looking like FSU gave us a pretty good effort...
