This is so short-sighted. A competitive GT program would do the same thing AU has done - build a bandwagon. Most of those "mercenaries" make lots of money and would love to have a nerd school with a national profile.
If we're hiring an OC, $3M is more than enough. I doubt we'll poach a P5 HC, and if we did we'll need $4.5M. An enthusiastic young coach might be willing to take $2M as long as he get some $$$ for recruiting and other coaches.
We allow exceptions, and may allow more during this period of transition. As long as the coach can make sure these guys focus on keeping eligibility, I'd imagine exceptions could become more common.
Interesting perspective here. Starts around 35:30.
Interesting part about "young, southern coaches" having enthusiasm at the possibility of flipping GT into a powerhouse, given admin, money commitment.
Also interesting - What the option has done for GT is to limit the gulf between Clemson and...
Inside linebacker speed(though a lot is pursuit angle, imo) and a some boneheaded plays in the secondary have cost us a lot of points. Hopefully we get that fixed today.
The dagger for VPI fans will be when they lose to Marshall. M whooped OD and VT...didn't. Crazy win. Can't believe how many points VT put up and how UVA didn't. They looked really good against us.
Duke used it pretty effectively around from the 45-30ish range on fourth and shortish. I'm not against it, but from under center? Probably won't happen.
Oh I don't think it's likely. I'm just asking if it happens. They could give up 3 TOs in a row.
I will say that UVA's defense looked like Clemson. Holding the point of attack, breaking blocks and flowing fast to the ball.
If we beat the dwags next week - don't we have a shot at the peach bowl? We'd probably be the second highest ranked ACC team, depending on Cuse's ranking.
Don't we normally lose on last second field goals? This isn't a common thing for us. This game was funny in that UVA played the game a lot like we've played(more TOP, more yards, more FDs, more TOs) when we've lost, this time we were on the other end.
