This time last year I could hardly stand to think about GT football. The season was so traumatic it just bummed me out to think about it. Doubts were creeping in about our offense. I saw visions of our B back stood up and our wide plays outflanked over and over. Could our offense really be...
What happened to Pitt? Did anyone watch that one? I can only guess that they didn't want to be playing Northwestern and played a flat game as a result. What a weird year for them. Beat two of the best teams in the country and lost to Northwestern.
Here is something I thought about coming home from church. If a running back goes low on a linebacker in space and he tumbles down, everyone says "great block," but if a lineman goes low, it is somehow dirty football. Why is that?
Gamble became our most consistent defensive lineman after the Australian finished. He was a 'tweener, and I never expected him to have such a career. He wasn't heavy or stout enough for a true defensive tackle and a step too slow for end. PJ said one time he succeeds through pure toughness...
When PJ went for it on 4th and inches at the 15, announcers said it was something he would only do in a bowl game. They don't know our PJ!
Lots of good play calls today. Especially loved the pass to Jeune on third and five which sealed the win.
This day's offense was a return to PJ Classic. No explosion plays. Just lots of five yard plays, first downs, and eating clock.
As good as Freddie is, nothing changed when the backup center took over. We really are set up well for next year on the O-line.
Someone said on another...
We got pressure most of the game and that was big. Also stuffed the run pretty well. Gave up no big plays, or at least that I can remember. Their most effective play was the QB running after no one was open. Sure hate to see Pat Gamble and P J Davis leave us.
Some people I head last night tiptoed up to the edge, but no one took the last step. I heard WTTE Heavily favored MSU barely held on the beat Miami O. I heard Two 6-6 teams coming off big wins over conference rivals. I heard Vandy put up huge points in the last two games against Ole Miss and...
I think Whiskey's point is important. I don't follow the Dogs closely enough to say, but in our case, he often shows how shallow his knowledge of our team is.
From the AJC point of view, this column did double duty. It gave the Mark and the AJC some extra pub, while pleasing the Bulldog readership by telling them the future is bright.
Bradley has written this story a number of times through the years. He totally buys into the SEC notion that recruiting rankings are an accurate measure of future performance. Ergo, whenever we play them close or beat them, it is because of some failing on their part. Since we don't get great...
When watching this game, I couldn't help but think of the often discussed topic on the boards of what is the impact of lots of preparation time by our opponents? No defense could be as thoroughly familiar with the TO as these two teams. They have whole seasons of preparation time.
It seems...
I think Boomer said something above which is a big part of the transfer decision. Knowing that PJ has a bias toward the player who has been in the system longest, I was surprised to see Mills pass Marshall as opening game starter. I thought Wow! If he is better enough to pass Marshall, he...
I have always pulled for Navy and when Paul Johnson joined them, even more so. But I think I'll pull for Monken's Army boys this go 'round. We get bummed about losing so many to Georgia, but Army has a 14 game losing streak. Imagine losing to the X@)%*#%% Dogs 14 times in a row.
NavyNuke, since it is all conjecture anyway, I'm gonna believe we that at that point we were stopping the run so well that if they ran the ball three times we would have gotten a 3 and out. We would have won the game as time expired instead of letting them have 30 extra seconds to look foolish.
