Beats no bowl game. IIRC, the four-year seniors have never been to a bowl, so I'm hoping they get that experience. It's embarrassing to go from the most consecutive bowl games in FBS to approaching half a decade of no bowl game.
My opinion of how good a coach Key is will be partly based on how well he strategizes for that game.
If we don't run 25 seconds off the clock on every possession (as long as we aren't way behind) then in my opinion he doesn't have a solid plan to beat UNC.
The only way we are likely to win...
And have a great NIL program. I've heard that we couldn't get a NIL deal to match what he got at Bama, but that is pure hearsay and might be simply made up stuff.
Really no need for him to go anywhere. He has everyone's attention already, so going to a Bama won't do much other than perhaps increase his NIL for a season. The NFL will find standout talent. He'd be a top draft choice even if he played for us.
Agree, but we both know that Batt hasn't yet earned the type of leadership respect needed to sell that consistently. While some people in the our fan base will give him the 'benefit of the doubt', a significant portion of us will automatically take a 'prove it before I'll believe it' approach...
This. If we were 13 - 1 we'd have someone on the board saying "I told you so!" about how Tech would have won more games if their...okay, let's be honest...his favorite offense/coach/player had been chosen.
That's what has me most worried about this process. As time goes on fonts seem to be...
Okay. That struck me as kind of funny :)
1) He found the perfect guy to run his offense, so we don't know if the offense is good
2) Can he recruit the perfect guys for his system?
Not throwing shade, as it is what I was thinking until I read it put that way. It just struck me as funny the way...
True, and in all honesty neither would 90% of the CFB teams out there. I think there are somewhere around a dozen programs that could have a run like Bama's no matter who was coaching there. For most of the others, even it they could get there they'd never sustain it because one of the dozen...
Aren't offensive linemen supposed to be some of the most brainy of all players on the field? I don't know why I believe that, but it's something I've heard enough that I just take it for a given. If it is, seems like GT would be a great place for them to come to get both and education and play...
I'm not sure why this has to turn into an indictment of other fans.
So, ignoring the shade thrown at those stupid others, it sounds like you think that's an accurate reflection of the attractiveness of the job? So if AzState and GT offer the same national-scale coach for the same money you...
I've never understood how it can be so hard to catch the football for some people. To me it is a very learnable skill. With 1000's of good repetitions catching with your hands in different body alignments anyone will get better. At least, I would think anyone would. But it seems this isn't the...
So where do we sit on the Pecking Order for new HC? I realize that all things aren't equal and that some coaches may prioritize things differently for different schools. But creating a pecking order by coach is too hard on a Monday morning. So, for confirmed HC roles where is GT?
This is where...
That's where I am mostly. My heart wants to hire Key. He treats me well. He looks good on my arm. And he does things on the field that I had forgotten what it felt like. But he's my rebound coach, and rebounds can be super bad decisions. My head says it's probably not the right decision.
When...
I love love love the fight in this young man. A full team with that kind of fight will win a lot games that they "shouldn't" if you just look at the star-counts on the field.
