They have not played in the 12 seasons A$M has been in the SEC. A&M has taken advantage of being in the SEC as they now recruit on par or above Texas. Texas joining the SEC will be financially beneficial for Texas but on field success will be more difficult playing in the SEC vs the Old Big...
I don’t see CDS’ offense regularly having an old school big who simply plays on the low post. His offense is based on 3 point shooting and driving to the rim. If one of the other bigs can run a pick and roll near Nfongo’s level, which is elite for a college player, than that big will get...
We 100% disagree. I believe Ndongo is the primary big guy on the court most of the time without anyone who is actually an old school center on the court.
He will get rest breaks and some matchup breaks but he will be our primary big again this year in my opinion.
Yes they are very happy in the SEC. UT doesn’t bother A&M is on par or above UT in revenue and fan support. Most Aggies missed playing UT. They actually have a rivalry unlike GT and UGA.
I would bet in most games Ndongo gets by far the most minutes of any other combination of bigs. There will be games where other big guys start or get match up minutes but I firmly believe we will see Ndongo playing a role similar to last season just at a much higher level and with a better...
The one missing piece is 7 foot guys who are good 3 point shooters. They cause real problems for the heavy guys and are tall/long enough to present issues on defense around the rim.
Some really good 3 point shooters fall in all your categories. Some of your category guys can’t shoot a lick...
Yea having options frankly at all positions are a real positive based on opponent matchups. Ndongo is a really difficult matchup for our opponents as you said his tight space quickness is exceptional. He is also a very good decision maker on the pick and roll. Having several good 3 point...
I agree with this. Matchups are the key. We saw that attempted last year we just lacked the players. Ndongo is an offensive problem for many teams. He simply can’t play 37+ minutes every game this season.
There are trade offs for everything. Have a big center who helps prevent stick backs vs a center who bogs down the offense. It matters how the players are used. You replied so you actually do care. Any further thoughts are actually of interest. Please share.
The Cowboys were a mess when Gailey took over. He restored them to being a decent but aging team. Jones made some really stupid trades post Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer lost total control of the team. 6-10 the year before he came and 5-11 the 3 years after. His two years were 10-6 and 8-8.
Curious as to how you see a true center playing in a CDS offense? Do you see him mostly down on the blocks/low post setting screens? Do you envision a High - Low game with Ndongo at the High Post? Or is the center simply a guy who gives Ndongo rest time. CDS has stated he prefers playing...
This - so many on this board are enamored with a big center. The pick and roll was the key element in our offensive success. Ndongo is exceptional at running it. Most Bigs are not even competent at doing so. There are not all that many Big Centers in the ACC who cause problems either...
With Conference schedules being so unbalanced there really is no other way to make the decision on the non conference champions. Even the conference champions will likely played very different conference schedules. It will be a mix as you said. Is there a better way now?
As you pointed all left because they didn't believe they could consistently achieve at GT what they could elsewhere or simply decided GT was not willing to do what was necessary to compete at the highest level in the ACC and College Football overall.
I have zero issue with any of them reaching...
Curry, Ross and Johnson all left for a reason. Basically they didn't believe they could reach the level at GT they wanted to reach and stay their due to how the GTAA operates.
More revenue for fewer sports should be an advantage for GT in the sports GT fields teams. We underperform overall based on the revenue chart that was posted earlier.
Winning NCAA Championships matter for an Athletic Department. UNC has way more than GT. No comparison. That we don’t play in those sports is a lick on GT.
Health as always is crucial for GT football to have a good year. Depth is improving but is no where near the top 3-4 teams we face this year.
The defense must take a Major step up in performance. That it hopeful but unknown.
Donte Smith will be missed. He was a stud the last several games...
