  1. GT VT Post Game

If Key can string a few classes together like the current one and keep enough of the guys around, I think there would be enough talent to hit 9+ wins on years with more favorable schedules in the new uneven scheduling world. And from there you get more revenue and can get a good pipeline of...

67 of those 112 yards on the ground against Syracuse were from King, too. In our losses, basically regardless of which RB was playing, the RB position production has been poor (which is why I don't think it's an RB personnel thing there).

That "nobody else did it" included 25+ passing TDs. Our offensive gameplan this year has NOT been designed to get 25+ passing TDs. Variety of potential reasons we've heard stated or speculated: slow down the game (to protect our D?) possible injury since week 0 desire to avoid turnovers But...
  4. GT VT Post Game

I think our schedule ended up much softer up front and we CAN do well running (in or out of the red zone) against weaker teams but get exposed against decent (or in VT’s case, even some statistically bad against the run D’s). We didn’t even get to the red zone much running the ball in the last...
  5. GT VT Post Game

Yeah, I think committing to a worse-for-our-personel scheme has hampered our ability to do anything else because we are deep in the season but have far fewer practice and game reps. Give me an extra pass TD but also an extra INT every game and I’m going to take that every day as a non-top-5 team.
  6. GT VT Post Game

Would you take this year King or last year King? IMO we took a significant step back offensive-philosophy wise to get more (statistically) efficient and ball-control-oriented. We’re missing a good number of passing TDs from last year, not just reducing INTs.
  7. Ricky Brumfield

Huh, sounds like a higher-up HR issue of some sort? Yikes
  8. 2024 non-GT games thread

At least we can watch FSU QBs for some entertainment
  9. GT VT Post Game

Last year I said a few times “I don’t care that much about the ints, especially since a bunch came in chunks when we were down in the second half and he had to try to win it himself” in defense of King. I feel vindicated now since our offense, even in the games with him, has been scaring...
  10. GT VT Post Game

They seem to have been getting better - just put up 34 on Miami, 31 on Stanford, 42 on BC in their last 3. All offensive scores, not ST/D. And our offense gave them 13,243 possessions today. It was a much better performance than some others that our D has put up.
  11. GT VT Post Game

So our commitment to RUN THE BAWL meant both our top two QBs have been playing hurt? Yeesh.
  12. GT VT Post Game

We’ll probably run well against NCSU and then think “hey we fixed the OL” just in time to run way too much for zero yards against UGA
  13. GT VT Post Game

Has our best drive of almost every game been our first one? How has the offense regressed so much in terms of actually putting points on the board
  14. GT VT Post Game

So is part of the reason for RUN THE BAWL that we can’t catch? 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
  15. Ricky Brumfield

We’ve seen Key demote an assistant during the season for performance, “suspension” feels like off the field matter.
  16. 2024 non-GT games thread

Whoops BC. Didn’t watch much (baseballing) but lol, AUFC is right they should’ve been more aggressive.
  17. 2024 non-GT games thread

If I have a big lead (20-3 definitely) I'm probably not going to be aggressive with under two minutes left in the half - a turnover would be a brutal momentum change there. But if they get the ball first in the second half, then I'm thinking timeouts to get my defense dialed in too, not just to...
  18. IF King is out for VT, does Pyron get the start?

Did Reggie Ball sub in during the BYU opener in 2003 or did he start the whole season?
  19. Postgame: ND 31-GT 13

Success rate is fascinating in its popularity currently because it's like the antithesis of the "this isn't built to score quickly" cliche about the Paul Johnson offenses. Steady-medium-gain success wins a lot of games. That's what that shows. And I think even the best "traditional" offense...
  20. Zach Pyron is a tough dude!

We saw some lasers early to Boyd and Janneh that particularly stood out as throws King hasn’t been hitting as much this year. Obviously the accuracy was not there all game and there were some struggles as the D got more pressure and we got further behind. But there were some bright bright spots.
