  1. Nc State Postgame

Should Philo have gone down at the 1" line so we could've run off some clock before running a tush push play? ;)
  2. Nc State Postgame

“Don’t take the touchdown because the defense will give up a 90 second TD” sounds like playing scared itself.
  3. Nc State Postgame

Also a big difference stopping when you have a lead and stopping and going down when you are losing. Imagine missing or having the FG blocked in that situation.
  4. Nc State Postgame

The biggest thing the need to improves next year is putting opponents away. We had FSU, UNC, and NCST all beat… until we didn’t. Still an upgrade from last year when Miami had us clearly beat until THEY didn’t, and we never had BG or BC beat at all.
  5. Nc State Postgame

19/33 265 0 TD / 1 INT, 7 rushes 57 yards and a TD 19/32 253 1 TD / 1 INT, 17 rushes for 66 yards and a TD Two true freshman two years apart gutting out wins after being thrust into action after injury, and suddenly the GT QB room is deep enough that neither of them has been the main starter...
  6. Nc State Postgame

Frustrating game. But better to win a frustrating one that to lose them like Syr/Lou. How do you “lock him up” for 3-4 years exactly? You go with whoever gives you the best chance to win in 2025 since there’s no guarantee anyone stays for 2026 these days.
  7. SMU Coach Rhett Lashley on ACC and CFP

BYU in 2003 and 2013 is the first that comes to mind off the top of my head. Baylor in the early nineties for a gross loss I was sadly in attendance for. Edit: I blacked out @Kansas in 2010, ugh.
  8. SMU Coach Rhett Lashley on ACC and CFP

The problem of perception gets larger in the playoff era because conferences are huge and most folks won’t be doing the digging to distinguish who played good in-conference opponents and who played bad ones. This also of course hurts conference-mates like say, UGA vs Texas this year, but also...
  9. SMU Coach Rhett Lashley on ACC and CFP

Harsin coming from Boise would be impressed in comparison by the level of players in other power conferences. Venables was 6-7 (3-6) in the Big 12 two years ago, that program has been up and down lately vs Texas which was on a clear upward trend. Cherry-picking. On the flip side, Mizzou hasn’t...
  10. NC State Preview

Duke and Carolina are delusional? Well I guess Collins is still at UNC so that tracks :D
  11. A thank you thread to the fans who showed up on Saturday.

Yeah we would’ve needed to beat Miami too that year I think. So you need Pyron to not break his collarbone and then the D not to break down late in that game and some luck.
  12. Bye Week Media

A win could set up a top 25 matchup with UGA which would be first in a decade IIRC.
  13. SMU Coach Rhett Lashley on ACC and CFP

I think what would be best for the non-top-two conferences would be for those two to get 8 teams in for a couple years and the lower ranked of those 8 to consistently lose, with some big losses thrown in. Cause we aren’t going to see the opposite and have a chance to see a third place ACC team...
  14. SMU Coach Rhett Lashley on ACC and CFP

At least the Big 12 love has died down. Though Colorado is ranked generously for two losses and no marquee wins. Losses to KState and Nebraska. Best win Texas Tech or Baylor?
  15. SMU Coach Rhett Lashley on ACC and CFP

A&M had two losses. If they didn’t they’d be ranked in the top 10. What’s their best win? 6-4 LSU? Maybe the six point win over Bowling Green? TAMU lost to an unranked team by 24 and dropped five whopping spots. But instead, now that unranked team is gonna move up on the basis of beating them...
  16. SMU Coach Rhett Lashley on ACC and CFP

The gripe is that Indiana isn’t getting that same scrutiny very often. Or Penn State. Or TAMU. Preseason rankings made us think those teams have more good wins than they actually do.
  17. SMU Coach Rhett Lashley on ACC and CFP

Someone needs to be beating the drum. And before the debate about how accurate it is for any given year - how often in the last twenty years have you seen an SEC coach just say “hey our best teams should be ignored, this is a down year”? Beating the drum constantly hasn’t hurt them.
  18. 2024 non-GT games thread

Slightly (pleasantly) surprised that the “we should’ve gone hard for Deion” discussion hasn’t started back up this year. Not sure it’s sustainable for Colorado though anyway.
  19. 11/15 Tech v. UGA

Slow starts a couple years in a row. If it improves again it feels like a “figure things out in the early season” to me which isn’t necessarily the best fit for the college postseason format but may be increasingly unavoidable with player movement anyway. But for tonight I didn’t have issues...
  20. this will be the 200th GT-UGA men's basketball game! / any favorite COFH hoops memories?

87-49 win at home in 2004 to pay them back for upsetting the final four team the year before.
