What are your measures for success with the new defense?

Dfei. I have grown to distrust the eyeball test.

Mitchell's interview is really telling to me, particularly the part where he's talking about the secondary. It relates back to the concept of EVERYBODY flies to the ball, and he says that Coach Woody teaches them to be ultra aggressive, and not to worry about missing the tackle, because other...

Which one of you guys works in Tysons? I pull into the office garage and probably 3 days a week park next to somebody with a big huge GT licence plate holder, and bumper stickers.

Like the part above said, I hope the defense smokes the offense all fall. I'm not worried about the offense. It won't be any worse than "ok". If we have a defense that can consistently smoke an ok offense, these are the good days.

I know for sure he was dinged this past spring, but you may be right about last spring. Maybe it was the fall. In my old age my memory is faltering :)

yep, but the sort of things that make one injury prone. Some people's bodies just don't hold up to the stresses of football, and are constantly havng low level, nagging injuries that hold them back. It's startign to appear that LJ is one of those guys, and it DEEPLY bums me out.

I think it's probably time to consider lucas "injury prone" at this point. The kid just can't stay healthy. It's a shame because I've been really excited about him. Man, and with him, probably goes the idea that we'll ever see a real passer in this offense at GT. It's just not gonna happen.

Hey, sorry to be a PITA, but I'd like to re-ask my question from the other day. You said it would be Graham next year. Is that based on reputation/film, or is that what you're hearing from people in the know who have seen him practice?

LOL, iirc his film was unreal! He was a great blocker for a TE, and he could really move for a big guy. I imagined him at tackle at GT just destroying LB's on the move.

Btw, as a former winner of the "Brod Snoddy Memorial award for recruits that ILTO is irrationally infatuated with" (other past winners include Nate Cottrell and Trey Klock), I can't wait to see Steve Dolphus put it together on the field. Ever since he got associated with Herman Moore in my...

    Defensive biGTime "A New Hope"

You guys are exactly correct, but I don't see an "average yards allowed per possession" stat anywhere, so FP differential is as close as I could get.

    Defensive biGTime "A New Hope"

As always, I am of the opinion that the only defensive stats that REALLY matter are Points Per Possession and Field Position Differential. Do you prevent scores? Do you set your offense up in a position to score? You have done your job. How you do it doesn't matter to me.
