  1. Conference Realignment

What do you think a look in is in this case? You think ESPN is going to voluntarily increase how much they have to pay?
  2. Conference Realignment

According to FSU and Ross Dellenger, ESPN also has an option for the 2027 season to drop the ACC contract altogether. Even the ACC commissioner acknowledged this but chose to call it a "look in".
  3. Conference Realignment

They wouldn't be able to join another conference without their media rights nor create any kind of independent schedule. So effectively, their athletic department would have to shut down for a few years. In the mean time the ACC would obviously be less valuable without their two biggest...
  4. Conference Realignment

Is your prediction that FSU and Clemson end up in a conference outside of the P4?
  5. Conference Realignment

That's what common sense would tell you. I would be shocked if FSU, Clemson, and UNC aren't already pretty clear on what their options are once they leave. Nearly every school in the ACC should be having these talks behind the scenes with the bigger conferences.
  6. Conference Realignment

You are never going to have reasonable evidence of where FSU and Clemson are going until FSU and Clemson go somewhere. Its pretty likely that those decisions have already been made though. Same for some other ACC schools.
  7. House vs. NCAA

The FCS is expected to pay 13% of this on top of whatever the NCAA withholds from them on their portion. Highway robbery.
  8. Conference Realignment

Some serious copium in here. If FSU and Clemson find some way out for some reasonable amount of money then UNC will gone within a week.
  9. Conference Realignment

    Amazing conference leadership we have.
  10. Conference Realignment

Over the years the ACC has won plenty of these games. It didn't really help at all. The media will decide what matters and what doesn't irregardless of the outcome of games. Clemson went to the National Championship 4 times in 5 years winning two of them and it did nothing for the conference.
  11. Conference Realignment

Just coming back to this as the UNC trustees have voted this week to audit the Athletic Department and are meeting this week to discuss financials. More info here: https://www.wralsportsfan.com/unc-trustees-critical-of-cunningham-to-review-athletic-department-amid-budget-concerns/21428803/ A...
  12. Conference Realignment

Seems weird then that just a few years ago the SEC signed all of their media rights to ESPN and allowed ESPN to be the sole owners of the SEC network until 2033-2034. The Big 10 will renegotiate their contracts again before then, as will the Big 12 and Notre Dame. The other networks are going to...
  13. Conference Realignment

And yet ESPN had a huge drop in profit last year, had to cut talent and announced today a 65 million dollar loss on ESPN+. ESPN is overpaying for college football content, among other things while their subscriber numbers continue to drop. The money is not going to endlessly go up. The latest...
  14. Conference Realignment

No, they aren't. But im not sure the people really making the decisions really care all that much about the health of the sport or growing the sport in general.
  15. Conference Realignment

Media data exists for what college football is now. Not what it will be when they succeed in making college football a two conference sport.
  16. Conference Realignment

There is a pretty good argument to be made though for essentially relegating most of college football and what that will do to viewership and interest in the sport in general. College Football in general isn't a very good product. Even among the top tier teams. It is driven by mostly by fans and...
  17. Conference Realignment

Just my best guesses here. I think likely FSU, Clemson, UNC, and UVA go to the P2 conferences. I think if that happens Louisville goes to the B12. The interesting group after that is Miami, NC State, and VT. If they all leave then you have a conference with GT, Duke, Wake, BC, Pitt, Stanford...
  18. House vs. NCAA

You guys are saying the same thing. The NCAA will pay the penalty but ultimately, the schools themselves will pay. The ACC earned an estimated $34 million in payouts from this years tournament. Likely, those payouts will not happen for a while or will be reduced. That is small potatoes though...
  19. Conference Realignment

UNC and UVA are pretty consistently mentioned as primary candidates for both of the P2 conferences. If FSU and Clemson leave and the ACC payout is decreased, convincing two primary targets to stay and make probably 1/3rd the money is a tough sell.
  20. Conference Realignment

    1. I believe it goes along with Clemson's argument that the GOR only covers media rights for current members and for what has already been produced. Their argument here is that by falsely promoting the idea that the GOR locks in future media rights, it diminishes the value of Clemson's media...
