Some optimistic tidbits for those losing hope

I'm not sure I would fall to pieces over this one. Saban described Louisville as sneaky good, 10-4 last year, and not a team that gets mentioned a lot. On GameDay, the entire panel selected Louisville to win over GT. Brohm has been at Louisville for while and is regarded as a good solid coach...

    Louisville Postgame

Vince Lombardi had the Power Sweep. I recall reading that they would practice that one play over and over and over and over so that it was a lock. It became the Packers signature play so much so that during one season, they averaged 8.3 yards per carry. This when everyone and their mother KNEW...

    Conference Realignment

One of my Tech professors had attended GT and described how to date a nurse at Crawford Long who worked the 11-7 shift. You could enjoy her company, drop her off, then scoot over to Georgia Baptist and get a second date with one who was just coming off the 3-11 shift. He smiled as he recalled...

My brother went to FSU in the 60’s. It was 6:1 girls to guys. He had a date to every sports event and never took the same girl twice. He said it was close to Nirvana as you could get.

TN to add 'talent fee' to all tickets

It has nothing to do with the comment I made. If you want to out your friends, come out of the closet and do so.

TN to add 'talent fee' to all tickets

Here's an interesting fact. In 2005, the entire Auburn University athletics budget was $62 million. When Pat Dye was hired in 1982, it was a fraction of that. (Auburn renovated its athletic fields, all of them, for $100,000 then .... using volunteers. That doesn't happen today.) Today, the...

TN to add 'talent fee' to all tickets

One of the big problems for AA’s that do this is accelerating alternatives. Geolocated tickets are already an option for a fraction of season tickets without an annual donation. Club seats can be had for less than face value. I see that already as I can attend games, sit in the club level, enjoy...

TN to add 'talent fee' to all tickets

Why don't you compare eras before and after the forward pass was invented while you are at it? You are trying to equate two completely different eras now ... just like before and after gambling.

I'm sharing what I heard directly from the folks that are executing it. Take it for what it is. Maybe they are wrong? I dunno.

Looks like the Mountain West is about to disintegrate after this year. How Air Force could break college football realignment again

TN to add 'talent fee' to all tickets

That is not my understanding. Conferences can decide what it is. The SEC looked at the lowest school, Vandy, and made their budget the cap so that no school within the conference can outspend another. Other conferences can decide their rules.

TN to add 'talent fee' to all tickets

What’s the point? SEC schools have decided to let every school pay 22% of a $100 million cap to players. All this does is shift some of the cost to fans directly. So instead of paying $22 million, Tenn pays $14 million. Seems to me it should come out of the media distribution.

Which means the biggest donors know. And the administration knows. The athletic department knows. The players know. But Norvell doesn’t. How do you trust a program with this as your values? FSU is off the rails.

FSU should sue Memphis for reducing its future media rights value. They should also sue their own players for negligence.

Kiffin was pretty much offered the job at Auburn and turned it down. His daughter goes to school at Ole Miss and he expressed a strong interest in staying because of it. He's a god in Oxford as Ole Miss has not been relevant for decades. He won't have that in Gainesville. (Alabama expressed no...

Fun facts … I went to a breakfast meeting and heard from a D1 staff employee who Is also a former D1 player and has 31 years experience in recruiting, player personnel and as NFL player liaison. Random thoughts … They (SEC school) recruit from 2,853 high schools across 4 states. Ten position...

Joe Hamilton will no longer be on tech radio broadcast

May totally be true. My attention was grabbed by DIckey's position that they would provide no further comment. I think ESPN did the same not too long ago and at least they said, "We were spread too thin" even though it was common knowledge they were trying to get rid of the highest cost talent...

    Analytics post mortem

I don't whether a specific coach does or does not put much stock in PFF grades on individual players. I think it's a waste of time. First, the only thing that matters is whether or not the team (and its players) achieved the desired outcome. As Saban said (and as does Key), "The only thing we...

Joe Hamilton will no longer be on tech radio broadcast

Per Dickey Sports, "Our company made the decision to move in a different direction. We all love and respect Joe and wish him nothing but the best in the future.” In corporate-speak, this is known as "Get rid of him."
