It typically costs about $1 million and takes 2 years to totally turnover a brand. Legacy materials float around for quite a while.

I think other people who are relatively informed also see the Big Picture. That they don’t scream it at the top of their lungs during every game is an admirable trait.

    2024 Adidas SWAG watch

I just checked and adidas has a number of products on the own site with various (even old) versions of the logo. Some factories are licensed to use a particular version of a logo. For various reasons, not every factory gets the latest creative package.

Is this something you have control over or can do something about? No. So, just enjoy the season. That more teams will be in the hunt will be exciting.

    Conference Realignment

I was reading over the weekend about the "thought process" of why 12, why not 16, etc. The basic thread was a) Let's get all the conference champs in and b) anyone with 2 losses or less. (Who want's a 3 loss National Champion.) In the final ranking last year, tOSU, with 2 losses, came in at...

That’s putting it mildly. The donors and the AA wanted him gone at the end of the 2013 season. They pretty much cut off his oxygen supply after 2014.

Tech moving to the Big 12 is not going to happen. In fact, Tech is most likely going to stay in the ACC. And why? Because Notre Dame wants it that way. Notre Dame wants the ACC to survive. Why does Notre Dame care that the ACC survives? Three reasons: Notre Dame values their independence and...

My numbers are dated, but it might be useful. To field a competitive D1 football team takes about $75M in revenue. To field a competitive basketball team takes $5-10M. I think at this point, Tech has to decide what is important. Vandy, by example, has all but given up trying to be...

I deleted my original response and will just say this. I did a project with the Kansas City Chiefs about 15 years ago. They were terrible! Horribly run, no strategy, it was management by stream of consciousness (no joke). So, in a word ... it's possible.

I just checked GTAA's financial statements. They received $9M from the ACCN ... so multiply that by 15 for the total conference. That's $135M to ESPN. Profit.

Media share is nebulous. That's because that was never really an issue until the 1990's. Games just weren't broadcast that much and athletic departments weren't relying on it the way they have now. Miami and Pitt are the closest ones I can think of. NCAA studies show that attendance (think of...

    Conference Realignment

There are several valuations floating out there re the ACCN. They tend to say the same thing ... the ACCN is profitable and because it is a jv, splits profits 50/50 with ESPN. It is estimated to dump about off about $9M to each team. This number appears to be confirmed by GTAA's own financial...

ESPN told the ACC not to do it, so there’s that. I would expect them to immediately option to Fox. Or other.

Listen to Greg Sankey, SEC Commissioner. They are NOT trying to “save” college football. They are trying to do what’s best for the SEC. And Tony Pettiti, Big Ten Commissioner, is doing likewise for the Big Ten. Does CFB need 128 football teams. No. Neither did the NFL. It’s called “creative...

    Conference Realignment

Um, no. The ACC is not bankrupt. It’s not in decline. Revenues are increasing. They are simply less than the P2 and growing more slowly. Not every D1 team can be in the P2. Nor should they. The reality is there are big market teams with lots of resources and small market teams without. And...

Aren’t they doing that now by guaranteeing a spot and specific money to be allocated to the ACC? Better to keep them “in the game” for scheduling than absorbing and giving a conference share.

    Conference Realignment

It doesn’t have to be just the ACC. Buffalo, Charlotte, Wake … all are small in the world of CFB. The SEC, to name a conference, does not want more SEC games. They don’t want to beat themselves, so they need OOC opponents. It would be far cheaper to align with a group of teams and simply pay...
