  1. Film Study OFF scheme vs. Temple

Funny, some other coach used to grouse about missed assignments and the general sense was "stop blaming your players". It's funny, because if you ask most coaches, "When things break down on a play, what % is the player's fault?" most coaches would say "100%" ... Right now our OL is doing...
  2. Wazzu at Utah

Really good presser. But "fat little girlfriends" is still his number 1.
  3. Legitimate observation/question

People are giving him a pass because he's (perhaps rightfully?) saying what they want to hear as an excuse: Q: "What do you need to be competitive with UGA?" Pruitt: "A full recruiting cycle." So he's basically saying, "My current guys suck. Nobody in the SEC recruited them. That's why we're...
  4. Film Study OFF scheme vs. Temple

Still haven't gotten around to making videos, but thanks for the ones you've put up @Ibeeballin. Patenoob telegraphs QB power. We run it from doubles with the WR's spaced out as far as possible every time. Granted, both Temple and Citadel were in man so we essentially broke it down to a 7-v-7...

You know Tetris was invented by a Russian, right? Straight red for you, pal! Fans do have a tendency to go over the top and eat their own, we're no different.
  6. GT needed a change

Somebody ask the new president if he ever went to a GT football game while he was in school.

I get it. Stinking it up on national TV isn't good. It doesn't help when we pile on. Oh well, maybe it doesn't matter. A Sooner board I'm on got so bad the mods had to institute a 1-strike = 1 month ban, 2-strikes = permaban. I hope we never get there.

Which one of us lives in Louisiana? :D I know it was intended to be funny, but the optics aren't good.
  9. Wazzu at Utah

Lightning in the area, so they took the cameramen down off their stands and are using various fixed wide-angle lenses. Point: if you want to see Air Raid route concepts from a wide-angle view, watch Pac-12 after dark right meow!
  10. The offensive problems and bright spots

I'm very hopeful we can get this turned around. These guys are getting paid the big bucks to coach and make adjustments. I don't have a problem with guys getting physically dominated or out-athlete'd, especially given the train wreck of injuries at OL. I don't even have a problem with guys...
  11. The offensive problems and bright spots

I actually guessed that this might be the play you were going to reference. It doesn't look like RPO at all to me. It just looks like TE screen with play action to freeze the LB. I mean: you can't tell me that our TE on their LB is a mismatch. It's not like we're getting Alvin Kamara in...
  12. The offensive problems and bright spots

Weird, the link shows up with "video unavailable", but when you click "Watch in Youtube" it goes to the very beginning. So I have no idea what you're looking at. Do you have a time reference?
  13. Rotating QBs good or bad ?

I don't disagree with what you're saying, but the coaches see the guys in practice every day. Purely conjecture, but what if Tobias has a 29% conversion rate on 3rd and 7+ in practice and Lucas has a 49% conversion rate? Even if he's coming in "cold", Lucas might be the better option. At the...
  14. Collins in-game coaching

I'm not even talking about X's and O's, it's more non X's and O's stuff. In the CoFH 2010 UGA was up by 1 with 2 minutes left and had the ball around our 20. CPJ told the D to let them score and kick the XP, putting them up 42-34. But now they had to kick off and we would get the ball with 2...
  15. The Temple Skinny

I really can't remember what the qualifier was. I know it was on-campus and it had to be in a major metropolitan city. It was one of those Aflac Trivia question thingies a long time ago. Maybe it was a stadium located in downtown? In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have even said anything...
  16. The Temple Skinny

Some random thoughts: I think Temple is the only other FBS school that plays in an on-campus home stadium in the heart of a major city. Edit: Oops, not sure this is true anymore since they play at Lincoln. CGC has also been a head coach for all of 2 full years and 3 games; he might get...
  17. Tulane Offense

Maybe. But 1 billion in academic donations vs a 60 million budget (or whatever the AA's budget is) might skew him to say, "Meh - whatever. Let's spend all our energy on getting to 1.5 billion in academic donations and leave athletics flat."
  18. Explain to me why the ACC always struggle out of conference especially early on every year?

Just saw an interesting stat: Worst Record against the Top 5 in the last 20 seasons are Vandy (0-16), Wake (0-16), Indiana (0-13), Notre Dame (1-18), and Boston College (1-17). The ACC has 2 of the top 5, three if you count Notre Dumb. However, that doesn't excuse NC and UVA today.
  19. Tulane Offense

Honest question: does the new pres care enough about athletics to do anything like fire TStan if we win 5 games over the next 3 years? We aren't a factory school where the president cares about the flagship sports. Who knows? Maybe he really cares about the football program. Or maybe he was...
