Happy to get a win. Right on schedule to where we need to be to get 6 wins and a bowl game.
Defense was the best in quite some time. Reminded me alot of the UNC game at MBS 2 years ago (8 sacks and 5 TO vs 8 sacks and 3 TO). I am not expecting that type of performance every week but it was nice...
SMU donors committed $100M in 7 days.
https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/smu-raises-100-million-in-seven-day-stretch-from-key-donors-to-support-upcoming-acc-move/
I expect SMU to be competitive in football as a mid-level ACC team pretty much from day 1.
Based on how much and how...
The way we were running out offense until the 4th quarter it made me wonder if the OC didn't have trust that the OL could hold blocks long enough to try for big plays.
We either ran the ball or were making quick passes. We really were not attempting any long developing plays.
As far as this...
It's starting to show up in the polls a little.
SEC only has 1 team in the Top 10 - UGA, and only two undefeated teams in the Top 25 - Ole Miss.
I think QB play has alot to do with it. As a whole the SEC does not look to have its usual outstanding group of QB's. I'd take the ACC QB's over them...
BC and Syracuse both look like much tougher games now then they did pre-season imo.
Both have mobile QB's that are likely going to give our defense fits.
I think that ACC ranking is about right as of now. I think Clemson will ultimately end up in the top 3, though lets see what happens when...
The issue may be less that we don't have deep threats and more that we don't have an OL that will allow the O time to utilize the deep threats.
GT took very few deep shots Saturday and I believe alot of it was that the OC didn't believe his QB would be given enough time to make those throws.
I think King (combined with Faulkner) is the single biggest reason we were competitive against both L'ville and Ole Miss.
Without King starting at QB I don't think we are competitive with either team. He makes the whole offense work because he can make the throws and can also bear people with...
Wake is a 50/50 game to me.
It is the kind of game though GT has to win if it wants to go bowling this year.
I have seen nothing from GT yet that says GT 'should' beat Wake. But i've seen nothing out of Wake so far that says GT can't beat them.
Those quotes are not good, but they are also not surprising. Coaches run off players all the time.
I don't think fans though really understand how college sports could change once student-athletes are made employees.
That changes the relationship significantly. A coach could run off a player...
In some parts of the defense I agree with you, in others not so much.
IMO it looks like the DL lacks a difference maker and doesn't look as well coached through 2 games as last year.
The LB coaching looks fine, but the level of talent looks lower than the last couple of years.
Just in general...
If there are 4 other undefeated conference champions and an undefeated ND then it could get interesting. The Conference champs would likely have a little bit of an advantage because each will have played an extra game (Conf. Champ game) compared to ND.
ND's schedule is plenty difficult though...
Overall it feels like Charter came out better.
I'm guessing Disney probably ultimately got the carriage fee it wanted for ESPN, but it looks like it had to give up on a number of channels and also had to provide the ad-supported Disney+ to cable.
Keep in mind that most conferences - including the ACC - have the same clause in their bylaws.
If a schools wants to leave it loses its vote as soon as it announces its departure.
The idea is to not allow school who aren't in it with the conference to make decisions for the conference.
I went positive with a 6-6 record and a bowl game before the season started and I feel we have enough talent to be a bowl team.
The next 2 weeks will give us a much better idea of how we are trending.
The OL/DL are what's going to make or break this team. If they improve as the season goes on...
