  1. It's beautiful day in the ATL

I am reminded of a quote from Jim Bouton in Ball Four. Unfortunately, I have failed to find it, so it has to be from fuzzy memory: "When you're winning, the steaks tastes better, the beer tastes better, and the jokes are funnier."
  2. Help with above the line chart

Thanks, Jojatk. I have not noticed Clayton this year. Has he been playing? He is one of several I had hoped might get in a backfield on passing downs.
  3. Help with above the line chart

I saw from Ken that there are three changes. I can see that Biggers is one, but the story is blocked after that. The RR site has the chart, but it won't open for me. UNC's will and ours from last week will, but not the current one. Will someone else give it a try?
  4. #GTvsCLEM Postgame

Skeptic, I have been thinking all week that Yates reminds me of Tevin. My memory was a pretty good runner, but nothing special. God at deciding where the ball should go. Weak arm but got better every year and by the end could throw an accurate, catchable pass. Not Justin Thomas, but someone...
  5. #GTvsCLEM Postgame

Augusta, I think Clemson's linemen have for some time been better at pass protection than opening holes for backs. I think their ground game success is more because of the talent of their backs. Seems to me too they typically run the ball just enough to remind you that they might. Meanwhile...
  6. #GTvsCLEM Postgame

One thing stands out for me as totally different from recent Clemson games. Clemson hit no big pass plays. Seems to me you could always count on some wide open Clemson receivers down the field and the QB hitting them. This time even when a receiver was open, we had a man close to make a...
  7. #GTvsCLEM Postgame

I saw Zeke Biggers have a huge push up the middle one play. It was amazing to see push you the middle on our d line. Can’t say I’ve seen that in at least ten years. (WSG 123) I saw one play where we had a nose tackle lined up who was roughly the dimensions of a Kodiak bear. He shot through the...
  8. What GT Does-Gap Running (Power/Counter)

Very neat stuff! Thanks! Looking at it from the point of view of what could go wrong, it seems to me making anything but a short gain would require the larger and slower tackle getting a body on a quicker, more agile inside linebacker. It probably doesn't take but a second for the safety to...
  9. UNC at MBS kickoff at 7:30p

Well, the AA can always use more money, and if it impresses recruits too, I won't pick at the decision.
  10. Seriously....who else we gonna beat?

I'm covering myself in case the taunting works.
  11. UNC at MBS kickoff at 7:30p

I may be the only one who doesn't know this, but how did we end up with a game in Atlanta but not at Bobby Dodd?
  12. Seriously....who else we gonna beat?

We all like to look at the schedule and speculate, but after only two games it really is pointless. You can't step in the same GT twice. We don't know how good any of the teams will be playing the week we meet them, and we don't know yet what we are capable of. Disclaimer: Georgia and Clem...
  13. Early line: Clemson by 29

I'm with Stech. Study the film, decide what you think might work, run your offense. Give it your best shot. If we are going to lose, I'd rather it be giving it our best try, even if that results in a blowout loss.
  14. Keys to stay competitive in game vs Clemson

I don't think there is any way we can get a win. Just to be competitive is the best I can hope for. But just to throw something out there, I was thinking about yesterday when someone pointed out that Clemson likes to play the wide receivers with press single coverage. Our receivers as a group...
  15. Annual reminder about today's college football

Jacket05, I would say that Notre Dame/Toledo is just more evidence for my thesis.
  16. Annual reminder about today's college football

Two weeks ago Florida State took Notre Dame to overtime. Last night they lost to Jacksonville State. Both games were played in Tallahassee. Every year we see similar things. If you don't play with intensity and focus, you can lose to anyone.
  17. Yates to Start Over Sims Tomorrow

Of course I can't know, but based on what was said all week, I think this means Sims' injury is keeping him out. I think the coaches were clear he was not losing his starting job based on some poor throws in one half.
  18. Thanks to Cuse Jacket!...

Cuse, I thought about the possibility of slighting other mods. Yes! You didn't do it alone. Your subtle and not-so-subtle attempts to tone it down somehow stood out to me. I'm sure we appreciate all of the mods. Maybe this will be the only week like this. Stranger things have happened.
  19. Thanks to Cuse Jacket!...

... for trying to keep us sane this week. That's all.
  20. Rewatched the 1st quarter of the NIU game last night and...

Three comments on the posts above. ) I suspect we'll be rotating defensive linemen more with a noon kick. 2) I'm not down on Pastanaude's play calling. He sees Sims hit those passes in practice. If we complete a few for big gains we're talking about how nicely Coach P mixes his plays. 3) NIU...
