Here's my contribution. Fire both coordinators. Make Collins Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator. Use the savings with no DC plus a hefty contribution from donors to hire a brand name OC.
Collins is said to be a good defensive coach. He is able to bring in talent. He is going to be on the...
I'm another who likes having an impartial observer sharing his thoughts.
My take is the fury on the board is not so much about the transition, and certainly not the upgrade in recruiting that Collins has been able to make. I think it is really more on the coordinators and what we have seen...
When I was growing up, there was a junior high team made up of 8th and 9th graders and a varsity team of 10th through 12th graders. Some years they would scrimmage. We looked like the junior high team against the varsity today.
Pitt, your team is the only one so far which has taken us apart. Part of this year's frustration is we have been in all the rest but the other team outplays us at the end.
I know little about Narducci, but one thing I believe all Tech fans could agree on is Pitt and a lot of the teams we play...
I saw an article a few days ago on the high number of in-season firings. Might have been an AP story. Gist was that the early signing period has changed the decision. If most of your recruiting horses are already in the barn, you can go ahead and pull the trigger. Seems to me this might give...
I saw a lot of nifty plays well executed. But it does seem like our OC cannot make adjustments after the defense has made adjustments.
A season highlight film would show half the plays of Gibbs and the whole rest of the team the other half. Please don't talk of Gibbs transferring. It gives...
I'm with Jmonty. We have played close until the end too many times. The other team has outplayed us at the finish, but we are due to have it go our way.
I can't argue that we didn't get a lot of breaks against Miami. But near the end we caught a bad one. We had to play a center with little...
That would work for me. The thing is, though, unless we got 8 turnovers, I doubt we could beat them even if all their starters sat it out. They have only been challenged once all season. No one puts up enough points to win against them. It would take a miracle.
The bolded line reminds me of a quote attributed to George Carlin. "Think how stupid the average guy is, then remember half of 'em are dumber than him."
Steamwhistle, I'm at the other end. I've been around a long, long time. You will experience many years like these but there will be some...
I'm not as bummed as I have been after most games this year. I never expected us to be in this one, so to take it to the wire was exciting.
One happy surprise to me was we stuffed Miami several times on short yardage plays. We haven't been doing that at all this year before today.
I only...
I appreciate this encouraging, upbeat post, Clyde. I can't believe that I will be listening to Tech on the radio like it's 40 years ago, but that's the hand I'm dealt.
I have no hope for a win and fear a rout. But then I was about the same way versus UNC.
There are two bright spots. One is...
I can't see any way we are competitive in this game. Since we cannot hurry a quarterback, any quarterback capable of playing catch with a receiver will put up big numbers on us. And if their guy is good as everyone says, so much the worse. We may move the ball, but without the line to push it...
Wherever this thread leads, I'm glad to see it. Despite the current gloom and doom, I can see big things happening offensively in years ahead. Not so on defense. We really don't do anything well on defense, at least consistently. As to the comment above on turnovers, it is absolutely amazing...
Animal answered a question which has bugged me. Why offer a seven year deal to an unproven coach? I guess we did solve the problem of a factory snatching Collins.
I think it would be a smart move to fire one or both coordinators. Ask those big money guys to pony up and hire one or both name brand coordinators. Usually, after the end of year head coach firings there are some available. A new coordinator does not guarantee improvement, but it would at...
I usually refrain from questioning the play calls. But I am astonished that we continue to ram the inside on key plays. We habe not been able to block that play on anyone we have played all year.
