Collins says players have 'chip on their shoulder'

Personally, I believe a new HC is going to have a gargantuan challenge to make us respectable again, especially in the new NIL wild, wild west. With that said, I sincerely wish we could go back to the hiring process after CPJ's announcement and really do a better job of hiring probably the most...

Collins says players have 'chip on their shoulder'

I don't think it is oversimplifying things, with all due respect, to say that a HC can make a heck of a difference one way or the other. I realize GT has significant challenges to overcome, and that is why I did not want to try and compete "straight up" hoping that we could recruit well enough...

Collins says players have 'chip on their shoulder'

I was at that game, and I truly believe without this penalty, we had the momentum and might have ended up winning. Oh well. I still love Attaochu as a player.

Collins says players have 'chip on their shoulder'

This was what I always thought - he just seems so thin-skinned and looking for friends and affirmation, but maybe I am wrong. He kind of reminds me of the Matt Foley of head coaches. (Matt Foley was the motivational speaker category brought to life by Chris Farley)

Collins says players have 'chip on their shoulder'

Nonsense. Be a competent, great decision making HC and win games - care less about hype.

Time to break in a new uniform thread - 2022 edition

I was not a fan of the mustard color, although it was closer to "old gold" than either "vegas" gold or this crappy sand Adidas provided. I am just glad that the new gold I am seeing on these unis is darker overall.

Time to break in a new uniform thread - 2022 edition

I will not complain. Sand is gone, just like it should have been from the beginning.

Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

Stewart Mandel @slmandel For six years, I’ve been predicting college football will eventually undergo a massive consolidation of the top 32 or so programs doing their own thing. In light of yesterday’s bombshell, one source deep in the weeds on this stuff told me, “I think that’s inevitable now.”

    2022 Adidas Swag Watch

I would just like a full zip or 1/2 zip or 1/4 zip with more gold. The ones they have put out previously were extremely thin. The thickness of this hoodie looks fine, but make something for cool weather without the hoodie and in gold/white.

    Breakout Season?

2-4 wins, anymore will be surprising and appreciated. If we are embarrassed in some games or look poorly coached or lacking discipline, 5 wins still won't save HCGC.

Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

Definitely true. This is getting way out of control, but the genie is out of the bottle.

    Here's a thought

I have no idea - but, I would think it would have something to do with what their alumni base/companies want to commit each year to NIL. I have no idea how this will work or if it will ever happen. For example, maybe any locale willing to commit that every year, there will be 15 million plus...

    Here's a thought

I just meant if a tier 1 division is created, the teams that can afford to compete financially will be included. I don't mean that "performance" is not important; I just don't believe it will factor into the tier 1 and tier 2 divisions if that comes to fruition.

    Here's a thought

Anyone who can spend the money will be able to stay in tier 1 - A&M, Texas, USC, etc. Performance is secondary since these teams have huge fanbases, huge alum $$, and they are willing to spend it on football. NOTE: I believe Auburn can compete is the big boy $$ game as well, and they probably...

    Here's a thought

Probably not all of them, but we probably can "stay in the game".

Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

I didn't talk about "fair" in my post. But, I do believe the positions where talent is the most limited will also profit very well - for example, BIG, FAST DL's and edge rushers will make some good $$. Unfortunately, O-Linemen, due to not a great shortage at those positions (and they don't get...

Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

Yes, I don't have a fix for the NIL situation; and most likely, there really isn't one. But, the whole point is to allow kids to earn the $$ when their name, image, or likeness is used to profit others. This has to be done individually, not as a "collective", or it would definitely be illegal I...

    Here's a thought

I dislike CGC very much, mostly for his actual coaching prowess (lack of) over the last 3 years, but also his used car salesman personality, but if he did what you propose above, I would probably get a shirt with his face on it. As most of our fans/alums, at the end of the day, we just want to...

    Here's a thought

And, here is where the problem for GT lies (along with all of our historical handicaps). Unless we can actually compete in this new game of NIL money, we will not only have difficulty ever getting any 4/5 star guys, but we will have trouble keeping those guys who show out that were not...
