A better title would be "CGC-Dead man walking" or "We really want to Fire Collins, but we can't because of the ridiculous contract"
Maybe I will start a new thread. "Suggestions on changing the title of this thread" :D
I didn't listen to the interview. IMHO, talk is cheap. Let see what he can DO(!) with the personnel he has inherited. Time will tell.
CGC sounded good and Coach Thacker sounded competent. Not much DO in these two so far.
I won't concede that point. We will find out if he can recruit when his players are juniors or seniors. Can he recruit 4 star recruits? Maybe, but that does not mean they will be star players at GT in 3 or 4 years.
Or the 2 previous years. Collins and the AD squandered talent to push a narrative instead of coaching the players on the team. A real Head coach hates to lose and is not willing to lose a single game without a fight. Collins and the AD have basically forfeited 3 seasons.
BYU is a good example of players in you "get old stay old" concept. Many of their players go on a 2 year sabbatical during their years in college. Some of their players are 26 or 27 years old, married with kids. On the other hand, I don't know how many Mormons play football. Not that you have...
This does make some sense to save money for 3 years to flip the roster, but Coach Choice leaving makes me wonder. I think Tstan would be in Choice's ear to keep him if this were true. But who knows??
Its been dark for three years now. If it had been one or at the most two dark years, then fine. We just went through our third year of only 3 wins. I still can't see the Dawn on the horizon.
Portal does not work both ways. Alabama and other top programs will strengthen their team through the portal and the lower level teams will pickup players essentially let go for lack of playing time. It may work for us on occasion, but it will not get us to the "Next Level".
